It’s that time of the year again. Who’s taking their Bay way out west?

Will be looking out for you in the way down tomorrow

I’ll just wave at you all from sunny Kingswood/ Bristol as you go , have a great time all. I’m down to Corfe Castle in two weekends time with a large contingent of mates and family types

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,now make sure you waves back ! :)

Off to Corfe Castle tomorrow just before lunch so keep your eyes open for me. White Early 1970, 76 onwards Devon Top, a hint of leopardy things here’s d there.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,fat old bloke driving, mutters a lot, not yet dribbling (much) :)

Might see you there, yellow 71 Danbury.

Been motoring around cornwall . Newquay down to rhe Eden Project . No issues with the A30 hills on the way down and heading back on Saturday. I have seen a few T2s down here in Newquay .

A warm journey from Newguay to west sussex today . 60 mph at 4000rpm for hours. Decided i need look at a different gearbox to lower that rpm . Although the engine ran quieter and smoother at that rpm. Any sujjestions guys ?

What rear tyres are fitted? At 4k revs on stock tyres you should be around 70mph.

There's part of your problem, there's almost 1" difference in diameter which will affect your gearing and revs. Stock tyres were 185R14 (185/82/14), the modern equivalent is probably 195/70/15.
If you've got 185/65/15 on the front you speedo will be over reading as well, so 60mph on stock tyres will be about 65mph on the 185/65/15.

If you have a smartphone you can download a speedometer app that will tell you more precisely your speed.
Agreed with @sparkywig start with the tyres and then if your engine can deal with higher gear, Frenchslammer makes a kit to use a beetle gearbox in a bus. Don't know if Graham from midlandearlybay sells this kit.

Thanks guys , new tyres coming up.
I had noticed the speedo inaccuratecy when using my sat nav . My 1776cc engine on twin 34 icts develops 100bhp at the engine and a whooping 81bhp at the wheels

May need to check clearance on the rear arches and on the rear of the front wheel inner arches. On the back of the front arches the orginal metal work has abump which i think maytouch the front tyres onlock as Dillon is slightly lowered
