    Porsche 5 speed into a 68

    I had the box built by Bugat5Speed and specced the drive flanges to suit the 944T driveshafts.... http://www.bugat5speed.de/getriebe/wellenstuempfe-porsche-944-lochkreis.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

    Porsche 5 speed into a 68

    Well I've got one in my split connected to a 2110cc engine. To be honest, the gearbox is fine in itself but getting the thing to work properly is the hard part. I've got mine with a modified clutch arm, a washer under the clutch pivot pin to move it closer to the clutch, 901 release bearing, KEP...

    I'm running porsche vented disks all round (on a late split). Before the servo it was worse than stock, now it stops so well you're glad its got seat belts!

    Porsche 5 speed into a 68

    Just beware that 1st will be very tall and you'll need to be clever with the shifter as the VW shifter has no spring/detent to help you find 2-3 gears. Using the Porsche shifter is def a good idea.

    servo/master?

    Several options 1. You can buy a dual circuit remote servo from Skintaracing or Creative Engineering for about £280. This will boost both circuits and maintain the safety of split dual circuits. This is the popular option. 2. Just fit a single circuit remote servo on the front brakes (not my...

    What sort of fire extinguisher?

    Dry powder settles in the bottle and needs agitating regularly to ensure it stays in suspension. The best fire extinguishers for a bus are the automatic foam systems where you clip a plastic hose around the roof of the engine bay. The hose is constantly pressurised and releases the foam when it...

    dropped front end

    I took a BJ bay beam off another bus and that has the ARB on upside down. My ARB was a bit of an experiment. I cut it and welded the middle and then sleeved it and welded the sleeve too. Now I know it works I may get a new one made to suit. I'm not sure why lowered buses shouldn't need ARBs...

    dropped front end

    I ran our split bus with a BJ beam for a while with one and then fitted dropped spindles and a narrowed beam and it lost a lot of roll stiffness - rubbed the arches something rotten and the bus seamed to wander about making it unnerving to drive so I narrowed the ARB and put it back on. Its much...

    tyres

    The problem with 195s and BRMs is due to the incorrect offset on the BRMs. I've got BRMs on my crewcab and they barely fit in the arches with 185/65s yet the bus has 8J porsche rims with 225s on and they have more clearance.
