    Engine wiring

Hi everyone, I’m at a great milestone of my build engine is in etc I’m down to the wiring of the engine to starter and battery. I had no engine or anything when I started so haven’t anything to reference. Has anyone a very simple diagram or some good photos to help see which wires go where...

    I cannae do it, captain!

There’s an Empi tool which allows you to hit it with a hammer or sledge. I have tried all of the above mentioned. Buy the tool it’s the best thing you can do and with a few smacks it will break free. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Milestone for my Bus

Thanks everyone. I’d like to point out the garage isn’t mine it’s my Uncle who lives next door. I’m lucky to get it up on the lift at all he has a strict rule of Alfa Romeos only!! Body wise both sills are gone, front valence and front clip I might get away with. There is rot in the front and...

I’m after sourcing a 020 Bellhousing. I just installed the starter and it worked and the input shaft doesn’t seem to be hitting the flywheel either. Thanks everyone Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Gearbox woes

The length from the ring gear of starter to end of shaft is 47mm. This means the starter I have is for up to 75. The CU gearbox I had to make longer studs and bolts as the originals would not get through the casings the gearbox. I believe I need a starter with 60-65mm length shaft in starter...

    Gearbox woes

Thanks, Yes I believe the problem is the starter I have is incorrect. I need a starter from 76-79 with a longer shaft like in the video. Hopefully that will solve my Problem. I presume you have the later type starter too? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Gearbox woes

I have tested it it doesn’t engage with the flywheel I got the starter second hand from a guy who had a beetle! Maybe a new starter with a longer throw will solve my issues! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Gearbox woes

Yes starter doesn’t engage I bought starter second hand it was from a beetle I believe a t2 starter needs about 65mm to engage the flywheel. I’m worried that the input shaft won’t line up either it might be too long? Maybe I’m lucky and a new starter might solve the issue. Hope you can help...

    Gearbox woes

Thanks. I’m pretty sure the clutch we installed was 200mm. Will I be safe in getting a later start and installing as is into the bus? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Gearbox woes

Hi everyone. I have a 1971 earlybay and Im starting to restore it. Today I hooked the engine and gearbox together for a bench test and the starter wouldn’t engage with the flywheel. It’s a CU gearbox which I think refers to a 1975-79. Am I better off looking for a early box or is it possible...

    Chassis Number location

I’m not sure. I believe they were actually assembled in Dublin as I have a shamrock stamped in the glass of my bus also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Chassis Number location

Not imported. It’s an original Irish Bus. It was owned by the son of a VW dealer in my local town. He still cannot find the original log book for the van. At least I have the Chassis number and original number plate. I bought as Is engine was removed as it had broken down at one stage. Not so...
