We have fitted adhesive backed led lights to the top of the curtain track, easy and unobtrusive.. All I would say is it is worth paying the extra and going for a warm white with a lower lumens. Some are incredibly harsh..

Had same issues, found that the notch on rear face of pulley was 5atdc so protractor and mark out from there..
