    A homely bus.

Great replies here. I write a Wordpress blog and there is a lot of involvement on there about the VeeDub. I write in it, play guitar, Djembe drum, read books, take the grandkids to the beach, etc. Thing is. Memories can’t be planned. Your Bus will allow them to happen naturally. You can take it...

    XOver rebuild.

Haven’t done an update for a while. The start of thread shows the Bus in terrible conundrums. 😳 Now? 50 years old this year. Passed the MOT again. Just sorting out the issue of engine cut out at the climb down to low speeds when approaching the act of stopping. And small break out rusty bits are...

    Ignition coil fail

Manifold rubbers for splits and ring clamps checked about a week ago. Left passenger side tightened up a fair few turns. Right driver side ok. Bought a new shiny stainless steel exhaust with new put in all around New heat exchanger system too. I have a stock brake system for a 72. Just had the...

    Ignition coil fail

Hi Ozzie. Did a check on the joints a few weeks back. Drivers side had a nut missing (no jokes Ozzie) on one of the joints (again no jokes) Bit of a gap, so replaced and tightened the other. Nice tight sound afterwards. Got a feeling it’s going to be simple this cutting out at lower speeds. Or...

    Ignition coil fail

Good idea. I had the carburettor stripped down, rebuilt and cleaned about a year and a bit ago. But left the bus sitting idle from last January for weeks on end after retiring and getting stuck into house and garden. Upshot was petrol problems with Ethanol separation. The bus hasn’t truly been...

    Ignition coil fail

Interesting thread. Been looking at ignition coils information with trying to sort out what problem exists with the bus cutting out and stopping when driving slowly in busy traffic or coming to a stop at junctions. Getting the odd popping exhaust sounds too when idling in neutral and putting the...

Oh! So sorry to hear you’d run out of steam. Your tenacity though! Been a great insight into your determination to get such a massive project up and finished. You have given many members here so much insight and knowledge along the journey. And you’re such a nice bloke too. No airs and graces...

Glad your eye is healing. Must have been worrying. Gardening is definitely a great alternative relaxation option. I just took a good friend to see an ophthalmologist consultant re: her eye problematics. Listening to outcomes, you realise how important it is to keep them as safe as possible...

Thanks for the reply. I went to the Llyn Peninsula a few years back and had the problem re: finding gears. I’d hit a hill, jump down gears and struggled to house the intended 2nd or 1st. Going up and down gears was frustrating. I remember double clutching at one point with the tiniest success...

Great to see you have been out on the road. And with only a few problems. The quirks are a constant on the old beauties aren’t they? Haven’t been on here for a while. Well....that’s not true. Just popped in twice or thrice now and again and saw the set up and promised myself a proper visit to...

    Which Fuel do you use?

Revisited recently on seeing this new format and need a good half day in the near future to familiarise. Looks great on first viewing and love the email notifications of new posts. Revisiting this fuel post because since retiring last July 2021, the bus has been sat idle far longer than when it...

Looking good for this year for you to get out there. Bet that small excursion of driving felt amazing. Soon be out and about and talking to your Bus like it’s listening and understanding. Bet you’ll find yourself patting the shelf above your dashboard and smiling. I’ve retired now (last July)...

Oh yes! Been there, done it and wears ‘insightful‘ on his t-shirt. Do like the way Ozzie explains those pesky conundrums with a dose of reality and a 😉 alongside his advice/answers in looking after our Dubs.
