    Random power loss (Battery related)

As Ozziedog suggested. For me, I had a corroded earth strap from the gearbox to the chassis, the single strand remaining used to glow when cranking.

VW of America Super Bowl 2024 advert

Liked the advert. Liked Taylor swift chugging a beer. No idea what football result was.

    Track Rods, ends and tracking.

Thanks all, I had a good climb round under the van at the weekend. Started a shopping list, but could use a pay day first! The Drag link is not centred to the beam (Vertically, looks good horizontally), it looks like it's touched the beam as there are some ware marks on the drag link. I will...

    Track Rods, ends and tracking.

Thanks Clem, I could not see a downside to having both sides adjustable (Other than cost) but thought I would ask before I spent money. I guess if I remove the rod with ends unmoved I can match the length on the new one before fitting. (Plan A) My nearest tyre shop were unhelpful with tracking...

    Track Rods, ends and tracking.

Hello all, My last MOT resulted on yellow chalk being scribbled all over my track rod ends etc. I have lived with this situation without incident, but have decided its time to stop pushing my luck as I have a few longer trips planned. Questions to the hive mind. 1 - Is it bad to fit...

    Winnie - Our 1970 Bay

I fitted one of these, from https://www.classiccarstereo.co.uk BT to phone for calls and Spotify. I have not had a good experience with DAB Aerials. The stick on ones are BS, presently using a mag mount WiFi aerial. Plan to try the splitter thing. DAB is great when there is no data.

Parts Wanted Steering column 1972 RHD wanted

I did this job earlier in the year, fitted a litestear. I only needed to cut the outer tube once removed. Instructions were clear on the measurements and not complicated.

Polzeath, Cornwall - this afternoon, not too shabby!

Love Polzeath especially when the very expensive campsite allows camping in the carpark on the hill at a much cheeper price! @Aldaol Is the food shack still in the lay-by / parking bays you were parked up in? Polzeath photo from a few years back (Expensive campsite VIP zone, about 50m from the...

    Fuel in crank case.

Dual carbs, one was spot on, the other was quite a bit off. I had to adjust both in the end as the new valves had slightly different retaining springs. I still think one of the valves was the issue rather than float height.

    Fuel in crank case.

Thanks all for your input. I replaced both needle valves and its seems to have solved the problem. For info, purchased the needle valves from https://www.southerncarbs.co.uk/ their website is bunk, but one phone call and the parts were in the post same day.

    The best awnings ?

I am still using a driveway frame tent from JK. 15 years old, has stood up well in many storms. Very stable. You can hang an inner 2 man tent or have large enclosed space. Two sides roll up plus the drive away side. Has a short porch on the front side which helps keep the rain off. It's...

    Fuel in crank case.

Thanks everyone for your input. Work begins on Saturday! Shame as my carbs are running sweet since a recent rolling road tune up, will try hard not to mess up the mixtures. I already have an electric fuel pump, a fuel cut off solenoid sounds like a good idea, but would hide the issue. But it is...

    Fuel in crank case.

Hello all, I noticed a very high oil level in my 1776 with twin weber 40 IDF. Carbs fitted late 2017 so not very old! Purchased from CoolAir. The oil had a very strong smell of petrol, did an oil change checked the levels all good. Took the van out for a shake down all fine, levels all good...

Fuel Hose and the dreaded E10

It's disturbing just how quickly E10 dissolves fuel lines. I try to buy E5 when ever I can especially if the van is going to be sat for awhile and only use E10 on a long run. I considered replacing the lines in the noisy cupboard with copper. My end of season to do list is getting long.

    Right coil for 123 dissy.

Humm, have you checked the voltage when you rev it? I have had problems in the past with an alternator which worked most of the time. Load does make a difference. Made it look like a problem with the coil. Hitting it with a hammer got me home from Cornwall. I have a 123 also, I have found...
