    1600 ‘71 compression test

No, I’ve had the bus 2 years and not had anything like that done.

    1600 ‘71 compression test

Can I add, I warmed the engine first. Plus it drives and starts really well, cruises at 55 quite happily fully loaded.

    1600 ‘71 compression test

I must be doing something wrong... I’ve just done a compression test and got the following readings; 1 & 2 35psi 3 & 4 45psi I was expecting readings of 100 plus so I can only presume I’ve either done it wrong or my engine is past its best. How I did it. Removed coil connector from dizzy...

    Renewing front seat covers

Do you need felt on the seats? We’ve just taken ours off and debating whether to replace or ditch. Also need new wire, as the one inside is rusty and broken off.

    Fuel pump gasket

I’ve got it all back together and seems to be working well, I used the original push rod rather then the new one as it didn’t seem mushroomed at the end or too worn. I do have the original pump but the oil leaks from the small rod that runs horizontally on the pump. Are they repairable does...

    Fuel pump gasket

I managed to get it out using the tap and die set, created a new thread in the broken piece, then with a a bolt screwed in and a lot of frustration and persuasion, got it out. I thought the gaskets surely would be better than gasket sealer alone, but thought I’d ask, seen as there was non on...

    Fuel pump gasket

I’ve got an oil leak on my fuel pump so I started changing it yesterday, but half the bloomin plastic has snapped inside. I’m gonna tap thread it and put a bolt in to try and pull it out. Is that the best way to get it out and should I put any kind of lubricant down to help. Secondly, there...

    Dormobile bunk covers

That would make excellent sense if true Matt. If not the original idea, a blooming good one. I’m thinking of getting new ones made, using these as templates to brighten and freshen the bus up a bit. So I originally asked as I was wondering if to copy these exactly or just make to the first set...

    Dormobile bunk covers

Nice bus! Thanks very getting back. Do you know why each cover has two rows of those twist locks on one side though? I know one side is screwed it the roof behind the plastic trim but the other side is folded back on itself with the two rows. You can just see it in my picture. I've also seen...

    Dormobile bunk covers

Guys, I've got a question about dormobile bunk covers if anyone can help please. Why do the original covers (that wrap around the closed bunk) have two rows of fastening holes at one end about 6" apart.

    Karmann Ghia seats

Has anybody ever fitted Karmann Ghia front seats to their early bay. I’ve been offered some but wanted to get a bit of advice on whether it’s achievable (I suppose everything is possible). Is there a lot of work involved. 😁

    Electrics - VSR

Hi, we've finally managed to get our 71' back on the road and now the interior rebuild has started. I am about to install a leisure battery and cabling. Question is - Is it possible to have a switch that allows me to very occasionally in an emergency, override the volt sensing relay to allow...
