just a thought graham but last year when I left I saw there was a motor museum just up the road from the camp site, maybe worth a trip out on the Saturday?
you gonna be taking the new caravan? lol!
couldn't see any markings on the allen heads. like you say though the heads do fill up with gunk!
re power steering I went with lite steer. I actually went down to the workshop and worked it all out with neil as I knew there would be problems. it always felt like the steering oscillated or...
cheers for the vote of confidance graham. im kinda belt n braces when it comes to enginnering. 10.9 is more than enough but as there were no markings on the allen bolts I wasn't sure what they were.
bundy, glad you sorted it. ive seen some real horrors in my time regarding brakes (and...
ok, heres what I did. ive had my set up for 7 years although I haven't used it as much as id like the last few years.
ive had to change the steering gaitors a few times as the lower wishbone bolts are constantly rubbing on them.
as I was looking under the bus again this year I was thinking I...
also bundy id look into shorter brake pipes or trying to find a better solution. not knocking what you have done but you really cant take chances with brakes.
when I fit narrowed beams on bugs I often use golf brake pipes as they are slightly shorter and stop the issue you having with your bus.
I agree a well set up van can drive well but its very rare to find a steering box set up that feels right. ive driven hundreds of vans in my time and very few have given me confidance regarding there front end. so many have shonky boxes, knackered drag links and wobbly pivot pins.
the reason I...
ive always thought this set up needs an arb. when you go into a bend you can feel the "lean" guess it wouldn't happen as much if my bus was slammed or much firmer on the setting.
problem would be mounting it. cant just bolt it to the a arms like they are fitted on a standard set up
on a side...
got a very nice chrome steering column for sale. bought off gadget boy a few years back. did have it fitted to my bus but I now have power steering so need for this anymore.
nice chrome but there is scuff marks from removing, was freshly chromed when I got it. still looks very nice tho. bit of...
just looked and early fuel senders have dropped in price to around £60, mind you the one I bought was genuine vdo not repro.
cool air don't seem to list this tank on their site yet so I cant put up a link...bumhats
ill help to clarify mikes question. basically cool air do 2 types of early bay tank. a standard one that fits as usual and takes the standard fuel sender for about £190 Iirc, they also do another style of tank that is the same shape as an early bay tank but takes the later style fuel sender...
I paid a fiver for mine!
they make getting the door open so much easier than the standard one in my bus. I have the cooker devon style and sliding your hand down the side to pop the door got old real quick.
surprised they weren't reproduced sooner
hi graham
well I bit the bullet and had it fitted. I went down last Thursday as id been speaking to neil and discussing the fact that I have the red9 wishbone set up and I was trying to pre empt any issues.
I glad we fitted it down at his workshop as it turn out that my set up did have an...
