What colour is your bay? Mine looks a very similar colour and I’m trying to work out the colour code.

You said you have broken down the carb and all good. Did you change the gasket on top of the carb? Is it a Solex carb? It could be the float height needs setting correctly.

Hi, have you got any photos of your current set up? I may be wrong here but I think the 34 pict 3 should bolt straight onto the manifold whereas the 30 pict 3 will have the adapter between it and the manifold. If so you can simply remove the adapter and bolt the 34 pict 3 straight onto the manifold.

Looking at that photo, I wouldn’t say you needed any new steel in there. Maybe start by taking the paint and any filler off to see what you have there before committing to new steel. It may all clean up fine and just need a light skim of filler and repaint.

If you are still looking for one. NLA VW do a kit which is similar to the original continental roof bed but the pillow section is detachable rather than being hinged. I have one in my early westy and it is a great bit of kit. My 2 girls love it.
