I can no longer open the cab door from the outside? locking is fine and door opens fron inside. This happened without waring, what needs to be done?

Could be the door lock return spring has gone. This is a commom failure on these 50 year old vehicles. They are very small but easily replaced when the lock mechanism is removed.

thanks for your responses. There appear to be two types of springs. Schofiled/JK offer a small spring rather like the throttle pedal return but these are listed 61-64. Custom & Commercial offer a more rubust looking spring 68-79. I bought both. Did I see advice on fitting?

I had/have the same problem with my driver door lock. I have to remember not to test it's locked once I've locked it otherwise its a struggle to open it again.
I have disassembled, cleaned, added new spring, and reassembled it, but it's still the same. I think there's two different springs and I changed the wrong one.

Edit - 211-837-061 is the spring I changed, bought them from Autocraft.

Turns out the trigger release sheared, not the spring at all. So I guess that's a replacement handle. Custom & Commercial offer a 100% identical German replacement for £40 but are out of stock. Does anyone know of an alternative source?

Get a second hand OG handle to get you by and wait for C&C to get some more made, they should be able to give you a rough time frame.
Avoid cheapo handles as you they are often not even the same shape and don't fit the gasket seals. You definitely get what you pay for in this case.
I've got C&C ones ready to fit and they are a work of art and perfect replica.
Have to do my lock springs first as I have the "difficult to unlock with key and impossible if handle has been tried" issue on both front doors too.

I’ve got a box of handles and parts, which bit do you need. I can have a look over the weekend.

I believe its the small spring in the lock itself as was mentioned by Coda and Mike. Thanks for the offer. I was going to get new from C&C as an old part may break sooner and its a PITA to do.
