Can anyone help me solve why my alt warning light won't go out please. I have checked the connection wire on the alt and made sure it is tight, I have tightened the pulley belt ( can anyone recommend where I can purchase a spare one? My engine is a 1776)
The problem started with the light intermittently coming on and off but now is staying on even when at high revs, thanks in advance for any advice.

I'd imagine the regulator isn't working, have you checked it's output? Google will help you if you're not sure how to check

You need to check battery voltage with engine running , should be between 13.8 and 14.2 volts . If not it most likely a dead alternator but could be a wiring fault , the WL wire shorting to earth. If you dont know the warning light works by having an ign live feed to one side of the bulb and voltage from the alternator on the other so when its charging the voltage is balanced on both sides and the bulb goes out.
