Year of Your Van(s)

Hi, does anyone have pics that show the routing for handbrake cables. also for clutch and accelerator pedals. this is a inherited project, which i did not take to bits.

regards
Mike

I can’t help with the technical side of things but it will help immensely if you tell us about your van a little. Mainly because there are lots of differences. For instance what year is it ? What motor and gearbox does it have. And very importantly is it Right Hand Drive or Left Hand Drive. If it helps, there’s an M plate fitted to the bulkhead behind the front seats and that bit of information will tell you everything about that van as it left the factory and it’ll probably help you when trying to organise parts for it.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,and a great big welcome to you tooo :) (y):)

Welcome to the forum Mike. Enjoy!

P.S. that was one dog to another :)
Cheers.
The van is a 1974 r/h drive 1600 Eng.
Originally a Devon conversion. The person who started to hack and weld did shit work . So that’s all been sorted . Now starting to put things back together 🤔

Does this help?
Outer ones are handbrake, the pair in the middle are heater cables and the clutch conduit is mounted to the bottom of the rear torsion tube.
Cheers,
Though the near side appears to get lost behind the heater pipes.
Do you have any pics of the accelerator pedal arrangement. The position on mine where it is meant to go , is directly above one above the offside y box sec ( I think it’s the wrong place ,
TIA

That picture is of RHD as you can see by the steering box. With the best wlll in the world, the accelerator pedal arrangement on these for the RHD is pretty diabolical and will never be in good order as it is way too complicated and therefore has wear in it all over the place. These were designed as LHD and the conversion to the other side is a bit of a lash up which is maybe one of the worst bits on these Volkswagens, fine when new but horrible with some wear in. The replacment as standard doesn’t seem to be available, however Buttys Bits sell a brilliant new set up so save yourself the misery of faffing about with the old set up and have a good look at a Buttys one, it’ll be well worth it .

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,Ive got one too. :)
