Hi there, I think Steve-is maybe the most popular name on here too, however we do have our fair share of Simons and Gazs for some reason. You know the drill then, so where’s the piccies? Pop some up and let us have a look at your pride and joy. Not sure if you know, but,,, you’ll be doing bits on it for the rest of your life :)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, and the biggest welcome to you:)

A big thank you for the welcome . Couple things I’m looking for a front beam but not sure as what years will fit I’m guessing it’s 69/70/71 years also I think I’d like to replace the front cab floor as it’s been welded few times and breaking threw again but I see few options a full floor or 2/3 parts I can’t weld and not mercanic minded so I’m not sure wat to buy for the floor as reguards the welding wich is easier to work with . Iv just fitted a empi shifter to take the play out of the gears but not I find iv got very little neutral play now lol

Hi thank you for the pleasant welcome .I will ad few pictures over week end . My next to do job on my list is the front beam trying to find a good I welded one as mine been welded several times now . But not sure as wat years will fit it as they seemed to have changed sevearal times I’m questing 69/70/71 years of any one can throw some light on it for me please . Iv not named the van yet but it’s been called few things specially wen couldn’t find the gears 😂

Hello Steve, and welcome to the forum.
Beam mounting spacing changed in Model Year 1970, so any beam after August 1969 will fit your bus.
hi thank you for that any ideas of the year they changed them again are we looking at august 69 to late 71 and does it mater if its disc or drums ,you can plob tell iv not a clue .and anything i should stay clear of, thank you once again

1968 and 1969 MY have the same beam mounting bolt spacings as Split buses.
1970 MY changed to a different bolt spacing, but is the same pattern until the end of production in 1979, it makes no difference if they're disc or drum brakes as this depends upon the spindles, not the beam.
LHD and RHD beams are virtually the same as well.

Welcome Steve. Nice looking bus, and love the side pop up roof.
I can't help you with your beam question, but I've just finished putting in a new loom so I've got to know a little about the weird electrics on these things!

hi thank you pictures make it look better than it is plob useable story slowly getting there .good luck with yours

Ha, we could deffo launch a takeover with all the Steveos we have now. Funnily enough, I do most of my thinking in that room which may be why I come up with the most random answers some times. If you have anything to add then don’t be shy :)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,so glad you’ve joined in as we was a bit shy on Steves :)

Welcome Steve. Just joined myself and I’ll be looking for a new front beam at some point, so will be interested in how you get on!
