What you getting ur Bus this year.

Mine gets somthing every year think last year was a new set of wipers. Year before a propex. Wish i got a diesel heater now mind.

Gotta get him a little something.....Emergency bottle of rum for under the bench seat??

Not in time for Xmas, but I'm thinking a diesel heater in January.

On a tangent ... I hope I avoid any actual VW related 'gifts'!

Is there anything to choose from amongst the various ones on Amazon?
Prices vary wildly, I was looking on behalf of a customer yesterday and the seller on ebay I was buying off before looks like they stopped doing them which is a pain, I'm told theres a bit of a supply shortage from China at the moment.
Make sure it is a 2kw unit and not a 5Kw as they are just too big in terms of size and output.

They seem to be priced from just under £100 upto £150 but I can’t see much difference in them. I assume they are all much of a muchness and effective, but churned out cheap?

I've just fitted the 2kw one I bought for the bus, to the summer house so I'm looking around for another. Once I've tested the 2kw in the summer house (maybe today but ironically it's too cold for me to finish the install), if I find it needs to be bigger I'll order a new 5kw and put the 2kw in the bus in January, as previously planned.

I've been looking at maxpeedingrods - they do their own take on these heaters, they're not really that more expensive and one of them even has BlueTooth so you can control it from your phone, if that appeals to you.
Edit: Here, sorted by price. Ignore the first few that are electric heaters - https://www.maxpeedingrods.co.uk/category/air-heater.html?sort=p.price&order=ASC&limit=30

Also, be aware, some come with different types of controllers, different connectors, different fuel tanks. Depending on where and how you want to fit it, this may be important.

This may be why there's a shortage of diesel heaters.
From a motorhome forum via the T6 forum.

"Suffolk Trading Standards Imports Surveillance Team have detained 973 diesel heaters at the Port of Felixstowe over the last two months. All products were found to be unsafe, with listings for all sellers removed on eBay.
Consignments arrived at the Port in October and November and were stopped by the team, with samples sent to a test house for assessment.
Each of the products did not meet the requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 because they could present hazards of fire and death due to poor supporting installation information.
Manuals supplied with the products failed to give measurements for installation and did not give the minimum distance the exhaust pipe should be installed from flammable material or material that could give off poisonous fumes when heated, such as insulation material.
If installed incorrectly, no warning was provided about heat and dangers to the user.
Large parts of the manuals were written in poor English and used the wrong words. The intended meaning was, in some cases, difficult to understand.
Additionally, the products and instructions did not have the name and address of the importer or manufacturer and did not include the required Declaration of Conformity (DoC). A DoC is a formal declaration by a manufacturer or the manufacturer's representative that the product to which it applies meets all relevant requirements of all product safety directives applicable to that product.
If you have purchased a product that you think may be unsafe, stop using it immediately and report it to Trading Standards via Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 0808 223 1133."

Interesting. Good to see that that units themselves were not specifically unsafe.

Oh no, I just ordered a 5kw! Time to cancel (I hope)

Which model did you get?
I fitted a 5kw in the 'buddy' seat behind the drivers seat back in May 2019. Like many other folk back then, i ordered a 2kw, but it wasn't till after I'd fitted it, i then discovered it's a rebadged 5kw. That said, it's a brilliant piece of kit to have. I've no problem with it being a 5kw , the angled rotating outlet nozzle can be pointed at the open sliding door which then warms up the awning too!. Personally I wouldn't want it running once tucked up for the night .When it gets cold enough i could use the timer facility on the controller which enables 2 on and off settings if required. I run mine on paraffin, do you guys?.
