Afternoon all

Van is enjoying his lovely new engine & now I have a pile of spare widgets...

Exhaust - only done about 600 miles including some exhaust manifold bits
2 x front brake drums
4 x hubcaps - rusty
2 x wing mirrors - rusty
Tin ware from engine
2 x sealed headlights - rusty
Carburettor and parts of repair kit
Alternator

Taken from our 1970 early bay VW T2 when engine was replaced & brakes upgraded

We're in East Sussex (About 45 minutes from Brighton/Eastbourne/Tunbridge Wells)

Please make an offer :D....would prefer the whole lot went as its currently stored in the van (nowhere else to put it..)

Hoping someone can make use of it

(Don't do facebook, so it's not on there.)

Thank you

Can anyone please advise if these parts are useful, or shall I just scrap them ?
Unfortunately I do not have storage & it's all sitting in the van which is highly inconvenient!
Have no clue about any of it & need it gone...
Many thanks

If you can post, I would be interested in the alternator and inlet manifold

Hi. I'm interested in the exhaust. How much and do you have the part number from when you bought it? Just wanted to make sure it will fit my single port engine. I can collect as I am in Brighton.

Hi
Sorry, I have no clue on any of it.
I do not know where to look for part numbers.
unable to post anything as just too large.
If you are local, then you are welcome to come & have a look. We are around most of the time including this weekend & we’re near Uckfield.
Hope that helps, would rather get this stuff on to be used rather than scrapping it.

Any offer considered. Won’t be offended by low ones !

Hi, I can arrange a courier to collect if you don’t want to get involved with postage?

I’d rather people collected it, then they get the right bit…plus you might see another part that could be useful…
I can differentiate between a sonic screwdriver, phaser & a lightsaber but no idea on vehicle parts…
Not sure where you are, but plenty of scenic stuff round our way, ideal for a day out!

I would really like the louver assembly attached to the bottom of the fan shroud. Mine is missing and they are impossible to find.

But I'm in the US - do I read your context right, that it seems you don't want to be bothered with shipping?

- Jack

You should probably just toss the headlamps, mirrors, and brake drums. Those are not in good shape and new ones are readily available.

Sunnyside: also, if you arrange a courier, would you be willing to collect the fan shroud and louvers, the bellows and linkage and mount plate if they're there, and organise shipping to me in the US?

I'd pay the expenses, of course, and don't mind if you make a bit on the exchange.

I probably don't need the shroud itself, though not sure -I've got a '71 bus. Anyone know if I'd need to modify to make the louvers fit my shroud, or if I could fit that shroud to my engine, which otherwise appears stock?

Oh, also Dark Star: if that carb is original German, it's valuable. It can be restored to be better than anything available new. Check the writing on the side, it should be obvious. Solex was the German brand, and there'd be other german words, I think.

If the carb is a German 34 Pict 3, it's particularly hard to find. PLEASE don't toss it if it is! I was lucky to have the German one on the van I bought. Even the restorer didn't have one, though he had all the others. He restored mine, but couldn't have gotten me one, and there were none on thesamba.com.

I could get you the name of the restorer or you could find him on thesamba. That carb runs much better than the new brazilian I'd put in, and thank god I'd kept the OG.

Or anyone else reading this that's got a brazilian...

If it's brazilian, I'm sorry, just toss it.

Hi, yes I would be more than happy to help you out but it would mean the original poster sending the items to me by courier as it is too far away from me to take a trip up there.

OK. I must have misunderstood the exchange; I thought you were telling him that you could send a courier to pick up something that you wanted, and I was asking that, if you were doing that then could he also pick up the stuff I was discussing.

Now I'll go back and recheck...

Jack.

Good evening,
I'd be interested in the headlights and carb if you wouldn't mind getting some more pictures of the reflector bowls (inside of the headlights) please?
I do ask if you would be able to post (I will obviously cover the cost). I live in Plymouth but am deployed away fairly often so rarely at home at the moment.

Many thanks

Andy
