Hi all,

I've decided to start this thread to document what we've done on our scoobied Bay. This is a pic from the actual sales listing, I have a lot more pics to upload very soon, I got him in Sept 2022 and plan on completely rebuilding him. Today I got rid of the poptop and put a Sheldon Hightop on him, I couldnt find an earlier hightop

I’ve just stayed with white ish colours on mine and decorated a bit. Not toooo sure about dark or darker colours as I don’t think they really suit the bay window or indeed type 2s in general. Mostly bays were generally white or pastel colours. I thought about yellow or paler as in a lemon but this seems fair.y popular / common but it does lighten and enhance the chilled mood. My mate Joey has a nice one in black and that does look slightly menacing funky and moody all at the same time. Black roof may take some of the size off of it visually but may be a boiler in the sun. Saw some fantastic paint jobs at run to the sun on various vehicles, mainly hot rods and American muscle Stuff. But if you get toooo crazed with the paintwork it’ll put you off camping in it, I know a few that have sold them as they’re too frightened to scratch them. Maybe VW had it right with the lighter and pastel type colours. Get to a few shows and see what you like is maybe the best bet. :)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,I’ve been decorating again!!!:)

Looks like you've been busy. I've decided on colours etc, just need to find someone willing to do it for me. What size wheels do you have on @ozziedog? Nice nobblies, I was looking to fill up my wheel arches a bit in aqll fairness. Im currently on 5x112 fuchs look alikes

Ive a 1970 van with stock wide five 205 P.C.D. hubs. The wheels are stock wide five steelies painted with Lidls finest silver paint. I’ve got stainless steel beauty rings on and plastic chromed overnuts . Tyres are Maxis A/T Worm Drive at 185 X14 with a commercial rating too. Not too knobbly and not too noisey.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, SO? What colours, or has it changed again already :)

Nice thanks. Mine are 16s but I'm not overly fond of the fuchs wheels in all fairness.

As for colours I want a really vibrant green with black above the waistline. Maybe a slice of the same green around the bade of the high top. Completely different to what I have now

Ah! What did you decide on in the end?
Metallic Green. It's called Viper Green and is a VAG colour. I did a test panel out of a rattle can without any primer and did the top half satin black. I quite like the look of it. I'm even debating doing it all myself and saving some money for more goodies for him.

It's been a busy few months with work and crap weather. The van is finally in epoxy primer and the dash painted the correct colour. I do wonder sometimes if it would've been easier to take it to a bodyshop to paint it
