    Weird noise from hubcap

Last weekend at the camp out I noticed a strange noise at low speed coming from the rear o/s. Sounds like a bolt loose in the hubcap. Took hubcap off, nothing wrong. Put hubcap back went for a drive, weird noise at low speed. On my drive I pushed it a few feet and sure enough the same noise. I...

    Getting to front plugs

My van is not really starting as well as it used to, one of the thing I haven't checked is the plugs. I went to do it the other day and can't figure out how to get to the front ones that are behind the carbs. Dropping the engine seems like an overkill. So, you twin carb owners, what's the...

Bugpack Mesa oil cooler fuse requirements

Hi folks, I've been wondering why my oil-cooler never comes on and whilst poking about today found that the fuse had blown. It was 5A, doesn't sound like enough. I tested the cooler with a direct connection and it ran fine. So I went out and bought a 12V 30A relay and a 15A inline fuse, so now...

    Not starting very well

After my recent non starting issues, having not started it for a few months. I went to start it yesterday having not started it for 2 weeks and it was just as bad, took about 3 or 4 bursts of 10-15 seconds of cranking to get it to start. Up to now, it would start almost instantly, even after a...

    Won't start....

Hi folks, last ran van a month or so ago, went to start it today to go and get some stuff that won't fit in my car, and there were a few coughs and splutters but almost flattened battery. I've had to crank it a bit in the past after a short layup, but nothing like this. Battery on charge, is it...

    Domed hubcaps on 112 wheels

I have disks on my 68 bay and late 112 wheels. Do the domed hubcaps that seem to be advertised as only fitting 68-70 bays fit the newer wheels? Cheers Andy Sent from my SM-G9600 using Tapatalk

    Ouch, Esso 99 is expensive!

153.9p!! Should be worth it though as it's got no E in it :) Sent from my SM-G9600 using Tapatalk

    Crank pulley....

I'm replacing my crank pulley, whci rubs the tin, with a stock item. Just got this from JK and was wondering which way round it's supposed to go? I didn't expect it to have any kind of offset. Sent from my SM-G9600 using Tapatalk

    Clutch and throttle cables

I thought it would be a good idea (in fact it was Ozzie's idea) that I should carry a spare set of cables. Scratched in the engine lid is "Throttle = 348cm and Clutch = 323cm". I've done some searches on here and looked on Schofields website and the nearest lengths to this are 3462mm - throttle...

    Camping stove gas fitting

I've got a 2 burner camping stove, which came with my van, but it's missing the fitting that the hose goes over. Does anyone know what I need? Would this do? Sent from my SM-G9600 using Tapatalk

    240v from leisure battery

Going to Cornwall in 3 weeks and could only get a non-electric pitch. So is it easy to set up an inverter from the leisure to power stuff at mains voltage? Any recommendations? Is solar worth it? Sent from my SM-G9600 using Tapatalk

    Sealing front windscreen

My front windscreen leaks a bit, it's better than it was as I put loads of silicon sealant rounds it. I'm going to see a guy tomorrow to have a look at it, I suspect I may need a lower bulge welding in as there's a bit of rust bubbling through. Anyone know roughly what this will cost, does it...

    Replacement fanbelt not 'flat'

I got round to replacing my puny fanbelt for one that looks more up to the job. I ordered a couple ages ago. One is a 907 and is slightly too big, the other is a 900 and is ok but it's twisted, well not actually twisted, but won't lie flat. Put it on anyway and it made a weird noise, (I tried...

    Classic car show Gloucestershire

There's an annual classic car show in Gloucestershire at Highnham Court. I went in 2019 and it was fairly good with some nice cars including some nice beetles - disappointingly no vans though. I entered my van last year, but the show was cancelled, this year they're running it again for one day...

    Strange handbrake

I've just adjusted my handbrake and it wasn't normal, in that I can't find any reference to it online. There is no balance bar and each side is adjusted at the base of the leaver. Makes it very difficult to get them balanced. Any ideas? Sent from my SM-G9600 using Tapatalk

Can't open driver's door from outside...

Hi, so in the process of fixing my brakes, I seem to have locked myself out! I can only open the drivers door from the inside. Is this easily fixable?

    Air in brake system

In the middle of rebuilding my front disk calipers, done the one that was binding. Doing the other one Ive somehow managed to get air I to the system. I think I let the reservoir get too low. The pedal was firm after I'd put the first one back together, but now it goes straight to the floor...

    Brake caliper identification...

I'm in the process of rebuilding my binding caliper, I've ordered a new seal kit which comes with some new pistons. The kit has a reference number of "ATE 54". Mine says "53" on it. Does anyone know what the number refers to, I've done a bit of Googling, but can't find anything. I guess I may...

    Front caliper rebuild..

Took the van out for a spin the other day and it was pulling to the left, not just under braking, seemed like one of the front brakes was sticking. Got home a sure enough the front nearside wheel was hotter than it should be. What's the first thing I should be checking before I go and rebuild...
