Anyone else got rocket launchers ?

Thanks gvee, Really easy , just a couple of s/steel bolts about M4 plus load spread washers within hand reach of the 65 mm waste pipe. Have to drill through the pop top of course but don't mind as it don't rust. Bit of silicone and all good. The end bits are standard VW centre hubs off eBay ...

Anyone else got rocket launchers ?

Not for the purist but great for storing my fishing rods in. Last year the Gendarmerie and Caribineiri were initially confused but good humoured. Looks even better when the top goes up in to firing position. 😜 Nb. Perhaps shouldn't be in technical forum ?

    Dodo mat, Dynamat, Silent Coat.....

I bought some terrific gear from noise killer uk (Oldham based) Not cheap but made a hell of a difference. They win a lot of awards for competitions on soundproofing land rovers. Used a thinner about 3mm self adhesive deadening mat on inside of door panels and front panel behind kick boards...

    Oil temp sender/ gauge choices

Thanks for that. There doesn't seem much point in installing one that isn't accurate. The price seems ok considering it includes the sensor ( which I assume is the same thing as a sender) You say you installed in line before I he cooler, can this be done with the engine in? Also when you say...

    Oil temp sender/ gauge choices

I want to fit a temp gauge to my 1600 stock engine. I have looked at all ( I think ) of the options. What would you recommend for the sender, sump (photo) or dipstick type ...or I think it can go in the side of the engine where the blue wire is on the attached photo. This last alternative I am...

    Cupboard by Sliding door opening

Hope these help. The small "pop up " table comes in really handy. The angled side elevation also helps as it makes it easier to get in and out also enables easier access to the sliding door handle from inside. Good luck Dave

    Front clip on westie roof

Hi That is really interesting. Pity you no longer have your old bus ...we could have made a complete set and flipped a coin to see who won it 😜

    Front clip on westie roof

Doing some adjustments and noticed that there is ( or should be ) a retaining clip to hold the front of the roof down. I have the part attached to the metal van roof but the part riveted to the fibreglass roof is missing. I have searched everywhere but can't find any info. Does anybody have a...

Fitted Power Steering - What a difference!

Just to say I had litesteer fitted by Neil about 18 months ago. Very nice very professional and also pointed out a few things that I have put right. I travelled a couple of hundred miles for him to do it, he dropped me off in the local village to kill some time and picked me up a few hours later...

    Bent steering "arm" ?

Thanks for the replies. I did about 5000 miles last year after Neil advised me. No excessive tyre wear and no pull on steering. I will check the tracking though after new track rod fitted

    Bent steering "arm" ?

Thanks to you both for the replies. I think I will replace it . Is it likely to be difficult breaking the joints ? I will probably have to straighten it to compare the correct adjusted length.

    Bent steering "arm" ?

When I had Litesteer fitted last year ( and it's great ) Neil mentioned that my steering arm was bent. ( not sure if arm is the correct term ) Not had any problems and just passed mot. Not done anything about it as other things new engine etc took priority. Looked at it today and it is certainly...

    Electronic ignition

Thanks for that. I don't suffer from a flat spot at all. I presume you mean just install the pertronix module in my existing distributor.

    Electronic ignition

Just checked my set up. My distributor is a non vacuum 009 part no.JF4 0241178009. My carb is an original Solex 30 pict 3. Which doesn't appear to have any facility for a vacuum pipe. Am I correct in assuming that I f I wanted electronic upgrade I would have to change my carb and distributor...

    Electronic ignition

Oh! I will double check and post a photo of the distributor if someone could confirm. Since fitting my recon engine ( the distributor was off my old s.p engine) I have driven about 6000 miles and the engine runs as sweet as a nut. Would or should I have experienced problems? If so what sort...
