    Indicator help please

If your relay is making noise but not working, just try tapping on it with the handle of a screwdriver or similar whilst it is energised. It may just be sticking.

    alternator for only outputting 12.8v

Not sure, I would assume it is the same dims on the outside if listed for your engine as it would beed to fit the pedestal. If you can afford it get a bosch unit, they make a 55amp and they have replaceable brushes usually. Pricey though. Best option would be to get yours refurbished if...

    alternator for only outputting 12.8v

Yes on the stereo looks ok now. 13.6V at tickover ain't bad. If you really want new carbon brushes just take them to a local alternator refurb or auto electrician. They will be able to source. They shouldn't be expensive really either. Otherwise, get the numbers off the alternator, they may...

    Lowered rear shocks .. help..🫣

If i had the money i would go for the bilsteins that sparkywig posted. Unless you are using a fancy heavy duty coilover, try this to get your sizes. Measure min and max stroke. ie: on the bump stops and opposite, so resting on the spring plate notches. Your shocks need to be able to compress...

    Lowered rear shocks .. help..🫣

Got to agree, the bug shocks will probably be too weak to do much. My rear measurements weren't far off. Jk and the other usual suspects sell fairly heavy duty KYB gas-a-just and GR2's with varying strokes. You need to measure top and bottom of travel limits to find something suitable.

    Electrical sockets

Baby steps! I have serious OCD and an autistic child, so I know what you mean dude. I am a marine engineer and have been installing/fixing all sorts of electrical kit in 3 phase, 230VAC, 12 & 24VDC, european and american systems and equipment for years, still every day is a school day. Good...

    Electrical sockets

Hi Velgreeno, please take this the right way as I'm trying to be helpful. Electricity is dangerous and you do seem completely lost with it. You could end up hurt or burning your bus to the ground if you aren't careful. This is why there are regs covering mobile unit installations. If you have...

    Quick question on rear hubs...

Just my two penneth for anyone yet to go through this: I went through all sorts of methods trying to get 50 year old 200lb/ft+ nuts undone: slogging, big bars and scaff, jacks (just lifted the van), crying, stamping my feet. I'm not big on hammering at nuts. If you can get hold of a torque...

    Tailgate shape for a '72 / earlier?

Nuts are there already, and it always bothered me that there was some kind of guide missing but I've never seen the guides on any bus. People seem to toss them away like fan flaps and stats.

    Tailgate shape for a '72 / earlier?

Yes Ozziedog, mines a 72 and the weld/seams are in from the vertical line of the rear hatch by around 2.5". Replaced my hatch this year with a newer one, rusty rust free, imported i think. It had hinge adjustment via slotted trapped nuts. There was an issue getting the lock to fit though as...

    STOLEN VW CAMPER LAST NIGHT

Good luck getting it back, I really feel for you. Its a shame police approach cameras don't recognise black plates. Does make it cheap for parking tho.

What part of the track rod is this?

All the big players seem to sell similar quality when it comes to track rods, crap. Mine have a plastic/nylon material as the bearing surface for the ball joint! They rusted within 6 months of fitting. At least they are cheap to replace. If the joint is OK, just buy some decent ball joint boots...

    Alternator belt length

Just checked, I was running 905, now 912mm, only a couple of shims though when new.

    Alternator belt length

Glad you got something suitable now. To save anyone the expense and disappointment: Avoid gates belts for aircooled vw's. I found one that's the correct length but the 'V' profiles are angled differently which would cause them to wear rapidly against the pulleys. I was trying to find something...

Roll over fuel breather valve alternative?

Nice one Al, I checked them out and searched up a reasonably priced (1/2 price) alternative. I'll post the results on here when I get a suitable breather setup finished. Could be some time as by twist of fate several jobs are on the go at once again! It snapped off while prepping for paint.

Roll over fuel breather valve alternative?

Hi guys, does anyone have an alternative to the roll over, fuel/air seperator valves fitted to the breather pipes on a '72 bay. They are located in the rear quarter panels and can be seen from the air inlet vents. The pipe going from the valve canister to the engine bay has rusted through and...
