    Petrol tank refurb

hi shoddy, have you coated the tank with por15 or similar. you could use some of the same stuff on the filler neck if you have any left. don't paint it with any acrylic/2k or celli paint as it will peel. you can remove all the rust with an acid treatment such as kb rustblast or jenolite or...

Short term fitting a dynamo equipped motor. Advice required

hi, you have probably done this by now but, do you have the regulator to go with the dynamo, they are usually seperate items and not interchangeable with alternator regs, and expensive too. you would also have to change your wiring to suit and its probably not worth it for a few weeks. i would...

    Crankcase breather question

hi, i did this last year to mine, cant remember the exact sizes but; don't step down the size, measure the breather outlet on the oil filler. go to your nearest hydraulic/pneumatic/flexihose supplies and buy a fitting that's barbed one end, the size of the breather fitting on the filler, and...

    Carb problems!!!!

hi, sounds like the fuel cut-off solenoid is faulty. there should be no way to start the engine while the solenoid is fitted but not connected. when connected to pos side of coil it should be open and as soon as voltage is removed the solenoid should shut off the fuel supply inside the carb...

Fuel Filler Pipe Groupbuy #2 (closes 12/9/16) DATE EXTENDED

hi, what are the silicon hoses made from exactly. silicon itself is not resistant to fuel/ethanol so are they fleuro lined or similar. i refurbished my tank, replaced the breathers and fuel transfer lines with stainless hard pipe and cohline 100 per cent bio-fuel hose and replaced the filler...

Will Merc Vito / Viano wheels fit my crossover??

nice nobbly, they could look so sweet. they resemble very old porsche steel rims. those photos take me back years to when i was restoring mine in an open ended barn with leaky gutters creating a waterfall down the walls when it rained. i spent many, many hours lying in a huge puddle welding...

Will Merc Vito / Viano wheels fit my crossover??

Didn't expect a reply. I'm interested to find out what happens as I have a 72 also. currently lowered about 6" or so, not slammed, I can just get my chest under with a shimmy, and I recently replaced all 4 tyres for mot with firestone 185r14c. Expensive, and I sort of regret it as I really...

Will Merc Vito / Viano wheels fit my crossover??

hi, not sure if the wheels will fit. but i can hopefully help with selecting a tyre size. this may be stuff you already know but here goes: if you have a 16"/6J wheel this means 16" diameter x 6" width. tyre sizes are given for example 235R/45/16 this means 235mm wide radial tyre with a...

    Whitewall Tyres

they look the nuts mate, how do you keep em lookin good tho? real whitewalls are made with white and black rubber, but you only seem to get them in the u.s. i have seen utube videos of people making them for hot rods from black tyres with white lettering. they grind/sand off the lettering...

Anyone good at getting a patina /rat look in bristol?

just a thought but if you were looking to respray and get that patina effect; i do a bit of spraying and if you go to the paint suppliers (waregrain or similar), they can add matting agent to the colour you choose and can make up in anywhere from gloss to complete matt. They can do the same...

Anyone good at getting a patina /rat look in bristol?

if plymouth is anything like brixham, park near a chip shop and the seagulls will do the rest! seriously, when polishes and shine are removed from the paint it will not take long to get that look. if you are in a hurry just remove all traces of polish/wax then use 3m compound (the one with the...

Earlybay Busfest Weekend tickets - Camping Unit and 2 Adults

dude, those "engine guys" are tossers, you're not paying them are you? i would keep an ear and eye for more problems with the engine when/if you ever get it back and don't ever go back there, unless its to take the boys round and get your money back! there are lots of cowboys out there, and...

Headlamp to body seal - how do you fit them????

if your headlamps are filling up with water you need new seals between the glass and headlamp metal part behind, not the vehicle body. i had same problem and used black silicone sealant, 5 years later still no water, hasn't rotted like rubber and you can't tell if you do a neat job of it. ;)

    Whitewall Tyres

sorry i went off topic for a moment, i like full whitewalls, they look the best but not for long. even the good quality ones yellow, crack and peel over time and then they look ***** unless yoiu are running a rat, good ones are also very expensive. the striped ones look good for longer as the...
