Pete is still going! He doesn’t race his Fiat any more but is still building boxes. He’s literally just finished a beetle gearbox for me which I’m yet to collect. 020 8842 2580
It’s your bus and your money so do as you wish with it.

Here’s mine:
1970 westfalia camp mobile
2276cc street/strip motor with nitrous oxide
Fully built 091 (6 rib) race box with LSD
Solid mounted engine & box
4.5” narrowed king & link pin beam
3.5” dropped spindles...
Gave the old thing a damn good run on Saturday, went to see Pete at cogbox in north-west London in the morning then blasted up the M40 to the outskirts of Oxford to see my mate ‘Metal Dave’ who made me pizza 😂
Are they genuine rocker covers? If not track down a decent set on eBay or alike. With decent gaskets and bail clips they won’t leak, No need for sealant or anything either, but everything needs to be clean. I use OG covers on my 2276 with no issues.
I think it will make a noticeable difference, providing people make sure the rest of the linkage is in good order. As others have said the generic replacement front bush is like a hot dog in a hallway straight out the packet.
Well that’s a somewhat sarcastic reply 🤨 I was genuinely trying to prevent you from causing yourself possible issues further down the line, you carry on 👍🏻
I mean general crud out of the material of the case itself. If you’re going do it then don’t put any locking compound at all. Spring & flat washers on each bolt will be sufficient.
Brought these for the new engine for my beetle but decided to use a set of Weber’s I already had. I’ve not run these personally but they came off a running vehicle when I brought them. Clean inside, operate freely and no corrosion. Asking what I paid for them, getting hard to find now...
Winding bolts in and out of the soft case can often cause material to drop down from the threads into the case and the internals of the engine which is why vw didn’t use bolts themselves.
