When i did mine the van really felt better to drive, although not seized i think they may have been dragging a bit, i fitted new wheel bearings at the same time too. Even my co-pilot Nige could feel the difference !. :roll:

My standard steel wheels have 195/75 x 14" Hankook Optima tyres fitted, they come with a thin whitewall on them. They were on the van when i bought it, quite impressed with grip in wet and dry.

As a matter of interest the seal kit i got from Big Redd brakes was £37 delivered including new pistons, that was June 2018. Same calipers as yours. I got pistons my out with a foot pump but mine weren't seized.

Hiya, late bays are different but conversion kits are easy to find. Awkward year 71 as they could be a one year only type like on my Nov 70. Also you could recon them yourself.I bought a piston / seal kit from Big Redd.

Shouldn't the vacuum hose be disconnected from the dizzy and blocked?

Holy thread resurrection!!..... I think i need one of these , could someone post a picture of one please. Is there a rubber seal for it where it passes through the tin wear?.

Hi, can anyone out there with a spare carb tell me the bore diameter of the brass tube on the side of the carb that the rubber vacuum hose pushes onto because mine has been bunged up with araldite and ive got to clear it out to re-instate vacuum advance, thanks in advance. :roll:

Thanks Oz, i bought the van from Southampton, haven't seen it for three weeks, still at AbsoluteVW, not worried though, in very capable hands and i can't imagine doing much with it till the spring. See you in the new year maybe. 8)

Hi Campers, Gaz from Brum here, i finally took the plunge and bought this on the 16th Sept 2017, the drive home in it was quite entertaining, more flying a small old aircraft in a hurricane. Anywayz its at AbsolutelyVW at the mo having a few bit and bobs done, new exhaust, clutch, master...
