    White knuckle driving

Thanks Mike, what psi do you have those 185s at? I reckon I'm under inflating them and should another 10-20 psi in them.

    White knuckle driving

What is the load rating on those 195/70/15 tyres sparky? Tyre chat isn't my strongest subject, but again according to ratwell, the bay window Westfalia bus weighs 1500kg - 2268kg. These Hankooks RA08 only have a load rating of 102 for a 850kg vehicle! Unless this load rating is per axle or per...

    White knuckle driving

I have had the Hankook RA 08 185 R14 C tyres on the van for about 5 years now. Inflated to 28 - 38/40 psi but I think they look bulged. Did the VW tire pressure sticker allow for the added Westfalia furniture and then loaded up with camping gear? According to Ratwell, our 68-70 vans on stock...

    White knuckle driving

Motorway driving when the wind speed is over 20mph isn't fun...it's very exposed across here in very flat East Angular. So, I'm going to go for broke and upgrade to brand new early bay Koni shock absorbers. Whilst I'm at it, what other bits should I replace to make this upgrade worthwhile...

    Back to Stock

After some reading, I'm going to go for a different set up. I had to source an air cleaner, but trying to find a fully working one with all the obsolete rare parts involved to make it work was difficult. I was lucky enough to find a NOS wax pellet thermostat and a later 1971 211129607C NOS air...

Be fair though, it was an OG Aldi bag.

    Original tinware

Is there anyone in the UK or Europe who specialises in complete sets of OG tinware?

    Back to Stock

I'm planning to whip out the rebuilt twin port 1776 with twin carbs and unknown alternator and try and get it back to stock as much as possible. I'm down a rabbit hole trying to source an air filter, manfold, stock fan housing... I'm looking at the idea of putting in a B code 1600 single port...

    Manifolds

    pm'd thanks.

    Manifolds

Well I might arrange to have the solex machined up to 37mm, matched up with a 1776. Or go with a 1600 with a new ICT carb.

    Manifolds

I have a rebuilt stock engine with Weber ICH twin carbs, but I'm not happy with the reliability of this set up. I'll probably go with a recon engine from the vw engine company with a single carb. I havent decided on the size of engine yet. If I go back to a stock W. German Solex, what are the...

    Roof bunk restoration

Yeah, that was my old tax disc holder business. It financed my bus until George **** Osbourne scrapped tax discs!

    Roof bunk restoration

I'm trying to remember the name of a company based in the NW of England ( I believe) who specialised in the restoration of roof bunks? Can anyone help?

    Canvas Opinions

If you are asking about quality, then I would recommend my deep yellow custom and commercial pop top canvas. £400, but it is super warm at night, has a double zip to access the roof rack and a mosquito net. Down side is that insects love the colour (outside only) and mine developed black mildew...

    Ignition Key Won't Turn

Just an update, it was a broken ignition switch. Can't believe that a tiny bit of metal and a ball bearing disabled the entire van.

    Ignition Key Won't Turn

The van is in a rear car park, I can't even tow it out, so it's going nowhere. When you both had your key trouble, was your steering also locked? I think this is hampering the jiggling method. I'm running out of ideas, so hoping that maybe buying a new ignition barrel which could then be fitted.

    Ignition Key Won't Turn

I'm on my third lots of jiggling. Would the RAC take the steering housing apart? I'm not sure what they could achieve?

    Ignition Key Won't Turn

The little one was messing about with the steering wheel pretending to drive. I went to start the engine and turned the key a little to start the engine. For some reason, I started again, but this time the key would not turn at all. I tried turning the steering wheel to try and 'unlock' and...

    Cab Bunk Bracket Screws

Does anyone know the size of the screws which keep the Westy child cab bunk brackets in place? I need a few spares.

    Underneath Squeaking

Sure as soon as you report back that everything is fine, it starts up again.
