I have two metal bars which need some attention, the bottom horizontal bar on the inside of louvre windows and one on the roof rack. I tried WD40 and fine wire wool, but it didn't make a difference to the rust. Anyone have any suggestions on what I can use? I don't want to paint over the bars...

Mine fits ok and it fits on another bay which has a crappy after-market locking fuel cap. They probably did change from year to year but maybe smaller?
