Change all breather pipes. Change all fuel lines set / reset valve clearances (so much easier with the engine on the floor) Set / reset points (again easier when you can see what your doing) Change the oil in the air filter / oil bath filter

Valve clearances, I had exactly the same thing, engine started 1st time, idled nice and smooth but load it up and no power. The inlet valved itself fully so the adjuster had un-adjusted itself fully so the valve never opened, might be worth re-checking all valves just in case

Guessing that the gap is so that when your opening / closing the bed you dont have to squash the cushions. If its all good when the bed is open then i would put a throw or something over it to hide the gap
