Nice. I've just put my first order in to Madmatz, some underlay and new floor vinyl, and of course they do loads of little things you discover you want when browsing their site. A £50 order quickly becomes £150 and more.

Also, newer battery technologies are available - one doesn't have to have a 100lb lead-acid any more. I personally like LiFePo cells, they cost a bit more (ok a LOT more), but they have a much larger AH capacity and more of it is useable. I plan to buy a load of LiFePo cells soon, some for a DIY...

If it ran but was underpowered I suggest you put a timing light on it. Make sure that idle is set correctly (about 900rpm) and the vacuum hose is off the dizzy end and plugged with something. It should be spot on 7.5btdc at idle, going to about 30 degrees atdc by vacuum advance. I went from an...

Yep and while they are great for getting power out of engines at higher RPM, they suck low down. I got tired of almost stalling at junctions and the massive flat spot pulling away when you have the impatient Audi guy behind you hovering over the horn....

I switched from an 009 to an SVDA and never looked back. The bus drives 100% better than it did. Oh, and points? No thanks. I've spent too many years dealing with those, never going back. Edit: this is the one I bought, incredibly good for the price...

I think if you have separate orange indicators you might be ok? But flashing red indicators are a no-no for sure.

Yeah thats the problem. I went into this thinking that I'd just remove the rust as those bits were quite obvious... turned out not so. There are several layers of paint and they are doing a good job of hiding rust underneath without any obvious bubbling. I've got a system now, use the polystrip...
