    I cannae do it, captain!

As Ozzie has said, you can be misled into using something that provides massive amounts of torque as being the only solution to removing a stubborn bolt. Whilst a long enough lever will eventually get every bolt off, you might end up shearing / rounding / snapping a tool before you reach that...

Ethanol proof and ethanol resistant fuel hose

Crikey, that is pretty scary after such a short period of time. Worrying that people might be mislead into thinking this is ok to fit and forget. Out of interest, where was the yellow text hose from - is it marketed as a branded item of some description? The last hose I purchased was from...

    Gear linkage coupling screw.

Take it from my experience - you want the ability to lock-wire it in place! Make sure the taper on the end is a good fit to the shifter linkage otherwise this could start to move and wear a notch into the recess.

    Wheeler Dealers

I really enjoyed Wheeler Dealers, including the newer Ant and Mike ones. However, the latest season seems to have really gone off the track of what the show used to be about. There’s more time spent filming pointless driving scenes once the car is complete, and much less about the repairs and...

    Subs

I’ve just chucked a few quid in the pot. My thoughts on the selling fees: I completely agree with the charge for advertising a bus for sale. Whilst there is Facebook where it could be advertised for free, the audience is very different to a website advert. I’ve sold a small handful of cars in...

    Milestone for my Bus

What have you been doing?! That workshop looks absolutely awesome, and loving the patina on your bus. Pull your finger out dude!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Gearbox woes

Just to follow up on this if you wanted some figures for comparison on gearbox lengths: 091: Bell housing face to starter mounting face = 83mm Starter mounting face to gearbox side of bell housing joint = 42mm (so total bell housing depth = 125mm) Ribbed section = 315mm Small section after...

    Gearbox woes

The bell housings are indeed interchangeable. I had to do a bit of research to work out what was fitted in our bus when I came to remove it, as although it all worked, it had been shoe-horned in with more than just a little persuasion, and was destroying the engine mounts. Although ours is a...

    US rear lights

As Mike has said above, have a good look at the original wiring diagram and the various posts regarding the modification of moving the indicator flash to the reverse lights. The original wiring (on a 68, but I presume is a similar concept for other years) means that the brake light signal feeds...

Camperjam & Camper Calling 2020 Postponed

There is indeed, and it has to be selected when purchasing tickets. The downside is that the move in recent years to put us in a prime location in with the SSVC guys has meant that non-EB folk have cottoned on, and there ends up being a mix of EB’s and random folk who seem to have no...

Camperjam & Camper Calling 2020 Postponed

Exciting news, and hopefully they will be allowed to proceed. I’m not sure how the general population who attend Camper Jam will want to continue to socially distance etc, as the trade area is always packed with people. Even with restrictions lifted by this point, I hope that the organisers...

    Air in brake system

Partially emptied would be ok, the problem only arises when the level drops to the inlet port of the MC, as this is when air will be pulled into the system and all your hard work is undone. However, the bottom reservoir level can be misleading - the dual circuit ones have a little wall inside...

    Air in brake system

Yes, there will be no issue with the brakes until the bottom reservoir (on top of the master cylinder) runs empty on one of the two chambers. The top reservoir just serves the purpose to be an easy point to add fluid, but also as an easy location to act as a tell-tale for a leak somewhere...

    Door seals

Certainly with mine, they are just pushed into place, no glue required.

    Air in brake system

Argh, you beat me to it... I’ve commented previously that I don’t like those one-man bleeder kits for exactly the reason you have shown - the reservoir and hose connection down to the MC are not designed to see pressure, and the only way to test if they will withstand it is to do as you’ve done...

    Jimmy our 68 westy

Snap! Just bought exactly the same kit, taking advantage of Heritage’s 14% off Valentine’s Day special. I’m just waiting for them to sort out an issue with two of the pads being damaged. Do you know what callipers they are in case I have to go searching for some replacement (upgraded) pads...

    Bolt on rocker covers fitting

I’d say if your rocker covers aren’t leaking, keep using them as they are. I had an issue with one of mine where it was forever weeping from one of the corners. Both were presumed aftermarket copies of the original, one was dry, the other was not. I tried a smear of gasket sealant, grease etc...

    Boot lift with gas struts

How do they actually mount to the bodywork? I’ve just replaced a couple on the Mrs’ car and they’re positioned such that as the boot is closed, they effectively close and fit within the gap between boot lid and the body. There is no such space on a T2, so I guess these have to be positioned such...

    Engine Lift

How much clearance is there for the bolt heads? Did you use counter-sunk bolts rather than hex heads to ensure no fouling? I had exactly the same idea about doubling up as a seat 😂

    Engine Lift

Great idea, thanks for sharing. Think I might have to purchase one of these myself, but maybe make a frame for it to sit in with casters such that it can be easily used with or without the wheels. I’m sure there’s other good uses - clutch changes on the daily’s or engine support for jobs...
