    For Sale Westy roof hammock

Just this comment, it might help your sale. I've just had my 5 years old sleeping in the hammock for 3 nights, as we where camping. And Westfalia did know their stuff :) , the boy was lying very safely up there, and he slept nicely. There is no way kids can fall out when there are lying down...

Many thanks for your starter line up :D Tomorrow i'm going to collect my CU engine in Sweden, and will go to returbilen, (DIY cheap junkyard), they actually have a Volkswagen Caddy 1,9 TDI -1999, so guess i'll grab the starter from that. Any starter at that place costs 250.- SEK Biltema...

My 69 Westfalia - Oxyboxer engine

Thanks for your reply! With that Bosch no it is easy to find the starter here in DK, it seems to fit a lot of the VAG concerns cars..like Skoda, Seat etc. But quite expensive...1800 dkk + core fee 1000 dkk. For a reconditioned one. Will try to find a used one. R.

My 69 Westfalia - Oxyboxer engine

Thanks! I will try to search a bit more on that Bosch no. But that Bosch no seems not to be used in Denmark ? Could it be this starter? http://hovwdiaudi.dk/_ul/xProductCatalogue/productDetails.aspx?id=1190300600&Group=13739" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; So did you have you...

My 69 Westfalia - Oxyboxer engine

Hello Nice to see a serious WBX engine built in a early westy, it is also used here in Denmark (mostly in type1). Question: I have just bought a modified CU type4 engine for my 68' westy. It is already converted to upright cooling, trimmed to 110 hp with twin 45 dellortos and has a 228mm...

    Carb balancing....

Well, i did a tune up on my Kadron's by following the steps on Lowbugget.com It seems to go ok, It goes 10 km per liter gasoline, and top speed is 124 km/t (with a 3 rib gearbox, std wheels, measured on gps). Its a 1776 engine. My setup has the balancer hose (link pipe) between the carbs...

Reversing sensor location on Early Bay

I have a set with 2 sensors lying around, and they will be fitted on my 68 westy. As i don't want to drill any holes in my bumper blade, i have planned to fit some small holders (made in alu) for the sensors below my bumper blade, these will be made to use the existing mounting bolts for the...

    type4 engine on earlybay

Hope you didn't buy that setup. You have to change a lot in the gearbox to convert it to frontshift, not just the nosecone. If you don't find the 6 ribs (091) gearbox from a late bay, then its easier to fit a 1303/ 1303S beetle gearbox. (you can buy kits) You might get the engine to fit, but...

    what extra's/difference with a 68 deluxe?

i don't know the exact deluxe differences, But in general here are a few highlights: On buses built before august 68' : The shade above the speedopot is higher than later years The speedo has the trip counter in the bottom, not sure if it only 68' but i've seen earlybay speedos with counter...

    Under body finish/protection

Good idea about rotating the bus, but you can do your job anyway....with risc of getting the stuff in your hair/eyes etc. As a rust stop/treatment job i used Fertan rust stopper and Fertan Epoxy(Ferpox) primer on top. http://www.fertan.co.uk/Item-Fertan%20rust%20converter.htm"...

    advice on typ4 engine

is it for your light blue bus in your blog ? Your bus should have a type1 engine, with upright cooling. Type4 engines have flat cooling (we call them pancakes here). It is possible to fit a type 4 into your 69' bus, but only if the cooling is converted to type1 style (upright), and you can...

    power assisted drums

Yes, i hope Botcolon can use the info. I forgot to mention that there was no smell of burnt grease or so when i welded on the beam I have a 180A welder and it was set to maximum power. Regarding the position of the bracket, (if he uses the direct servo), it by far the best to have the servo...

    power assisted drums

I'm in the process of fitting a servo to my 68 westy. But i'm also converting the front brakes to late bay discs. One of my friends have a 70 deluxe and these model are born with the servo and drums,(but now it also have discs up front) As a start i test drove his bus, and it did brake very...

    Changing rear shocks any tips?

I had similar problem with my daily driver, but a few minutes with a gasheater made a miracle! So; heat the nut up, like 30 secs or more, and be ready with the tools. It should release easy. It's physically based on the fact that a 1000 mm metal stick will be 1001 mm when heated to 100 degrees...

Another 1968 Campmobile poptop, now in Denmark.

Here is a little update on the sink. The right flip table was really tired, but the top looked fine, so i simply replaced the bad part: old gnarly underside: Peeled it off: cut a new one of 3 mm plywood: (its the top of the spicerack..still need to cut a new top) A little bit of glue...
