I shift at 6800 and the rev limiter is set at 7200. Hector winds the 2276 in his beetle race car up to 8200 in each gear 😂

So as I’m treating my motor to new heads I thought I’d splash out on some new valve train as well! Nice shiny set of Scat 1.45:1 ratio rockers, same as what i had before but they were used from my mate Chris who’d brought them 2nd hand from Pete @ cogbox so probs 20-25yrs old and seen a...

    Winter storage

Mine are away for a while now. All my old cars live in my heated workshop which I’m incredibly lucky to have HOWEVER….. Heat & dry storage alone won’t save them if you park them up without taking a few precautions. Good wash & polish and make sure the underside is clean too. Road Salt is the car...

Yeah I know 🤦🏻 I wanted to go but I not gonna have it all sorted and dialled in by then 🙁 Did look at going in the beetle but literally every hotel even remotely near ninove is booked up

unpicked the rusty section of inner sill Outer sill & bottom of the B are solid 🙏🏻 that will all get a good clean and dose of anti corrosion coating before it weld the new metal in. Something I’ve been meaning to do for literally years! Machine the snout of the drums down and fit shorter...

    Crappy Year

Sorry for your loss, hope you and your family are doing ok. Cool tins don’t really have any benefit on an upright type 1 engine, they won’t make it run hotter but they won’t make it run cooler either. Full type 1 tin is what you want, keeps my 10:1 2276 running at perfect temps.

Todays progress…. Cargo floor bare metalled, what an unpleasant ordeal that was 💀😂 but it seems the red oxide I put down years ago has kept 90% of original floor in good shape. Swept it down, de greased and coated the R/H half with Hydrate 80 just to stop any damp or moisture having a go at...

^^^^^ this! it’s some god forsaken UNC thread, don’t know why the yanks can’t just use Metric like everyone else in the developed world, especially when building parts for European vehicles which are metric! 🤦🏻 drill & tap it for an m5 heli-coil then get some studding & wing nuts to suit 👌🏻

Another alteration/improvement I’ve been playing is this because since I’ve been using the nitrous in anger I’ve been suffering with wheel hop when leaving the line. I’d already fabricated a mid mount to make use of the ‘ears’ on my 091 based race box. After discussing it with Hector and Pete at...

We cc’d the combustion chambers on the new heads Saturday. They came in at 67cc, need them at 57cc to achieve a 10:1 compression ratio. Will fly cut them at work in the next week or so. Also made myself some solid mounts for the gearbox mid mount this afternoon as work was dead lol.

Cut most of a crusty stuff out, just need to trim back a bit of the inner sill. Hopefully start putting the new metal in tomorrow 🤞🏻 The repair panels from Alan Schofield are outstanding. Cutting the belly pans off and will fit new which will be bolt on, so in future I can inspect behind...

Went to the powder coaters next door this morning and got them to aqua blast my new inlet manifolds. The raw aluminium finish looks much nicer than the shiny finish CB sell them with.
