    Anti roll bar bush

Whilst doing a pre-MOT walkaround I noticed this... It looks like a very simple job to replace - not even needing to remove the anti-roll bar. Is this the case ? I am nervous about leaving the bus in an undrivable state so I couldn't drive to a repair ship to bail me out if needed. Assuming...

    What's it worth...?

I know its a piece of string question, the time has come to sell the bus, we bought it for family holidays and it was fantastic for that. but now the kids are both over 6 foot tall and object to sleeping in the bunks... It's pretty much unmolested, always starts, no smoke or strange noises...

very impressive home made tools ! my best selfmade tool is a U bent bit of wire to pull hub caps off and a cut down right angle screw driver for undoing the condensor bracket screwed conveniently directly behind the disti

Can't open driver's door from outside...

...this is a MOT failure, you don't want to make it difficult for the fire brigade to drag you out of a burning bus !!!!

    Stock exhaust question

Thanks for the helpful comments. In the end I had to cut the old exhaust out, so forced myself to buy a new one, which is probably for the best. One of the heat exchangers also has a hole, so will replace, and it will give me a chance to clean up and paint the area under the bus and clean the...

    Stock exhaust question

Thanks for the comments, what is puzzling me is I guess this exhaust originally arrived in two pieces ? What "joined" them together ? It wasn't friction.... I appreciate new exhaust is the best solution but money is a bit tight at the moment....

    Stock exhaust question

When reversing my tail pipe hit a kerb and is now lose. As the exhaust is otherwise in good condition I am wondering if I can just weld the tail pipe back on. There is no sign of a break on the outside so I was wondering if the pipe can just be welded to the outside, or if it was originally...

Seat belt repair - viable ?

I'm guessing it's not an easy fix to fix a seatbelt, the ratchet is broken so can't pull seatbeat out... Does anyone have one for a sale - ideally white for passenger (UK) side (left) Many Thanks

    Generator light coming on

interesting... I suppose this means the leisure battery is always being charged when engine is running, as opposed to using terminal 61 which will only energise relay and charge L battery when the correct o/p voltage is reached. So with the coil both batteries are always being charged equally...

    30a v. 38 amp regulator ?

Thanks Ronnie, in fact the old reg was rated at 30A, it was none original, non Bosch, mechanical, but been in for my 10 years of ownership, and from the state of it a lot longer than that. The new solid state Bosch (30A) seems to do the job fine, no fires yet....

    Generator light coming on

I have very similar problem, but for me all was OK until I replaced the regulator. (red light now always dimly on). I've narrowed it down to a mis match between the old leisure battery relay and the new solid state (Mexican) regulator. An easy test is check the voltage on the blue wire...

    Generator Wiring

I am just fitting one, these are the instructions, mine looks a little different to yours, but I guess the connectors are the same... There are two cables from my gen. (D+) thicker cable provides the 12v charging voltage/current (DF) smaller cable provides the feedback from the reg to limit...

    30a v. 38 amp regulator ?

Looking on Ebay and other suppliers it seems there is only one type of regulator comonly available, and it is marked as 30a only on some sites, and 30a and 38a on other sites... My dynamo is 38a. Would a lower rate regulator burn out, or just deliver less current to the battery/bus, or does...

    Red charging light

...so driving back from Cornwall with 6 hours to go the red light starts flickering, then stays on solid, only 200 miles to home. Checked fan belt to check cooling fan OK. OK. Nothing to do but cross fingers, turn off radio and hope. We made it home, where for a laugh I tried to restart it -...

Your Early Bay Picture of the Day .....

OK - please treat this as a bump to stop this thread disappearing into obscurity. - yeah - it's not a bus - VW provenance questionable - 5 brownie points if anyone knows where it is

    Engine wont start

...have you tried putting bus in gear, ignition OFF, then rocking it backwards and forwards. Sometime starter motors get jammed and this can free them. (also a single sharp tap with a hammer can unjam) Also - you can short out the 2 solenoid connectors with a screwdriver and the start motor...

    Colour matched spray paint

I think any automotive paint shop can do it. I took mine to https://www.lewentltd.co.uk/ and they had a paint scanner, and from the scan they get a code and can duplicate and create the exact colour in a paint mixing machine. (ie all colours possible are made up of different concentrations of...
