Nice one mate, much obliged, cheers! Looks like you'll be nice and watertight once you're done. Yeah, recovered now. We've been out in the bus just locally to the beach or whatever pretty much every day since we got back. Thought we'd be sick of it but can't wait to go on another roadtrip in it :D

Looking bloody awesome that is mate. Can I ask where you got the seals from? I need some deluxe style for my side quarterlights and side rear windows and don't want to buy **** ones (again!).

Fitted the roof rack that we bought before hols but didn't turn up in time. Oh well be handy for the next trip! Also, I had the OG 68 mirror stalk but no mirror. I bought a replacement mirror (the wrong kind) and stuck it onto the stalk. Looks much better now.

Very nice mate, tidy bus and love the work you've done on it.

Cheers mate, checking out your thread now :D Yeah, aside from the pretty major fault that Graham L fixed, everything else was just minor teething issues that would have been sorted with a bit more running around or some more spares, I'm lucky that nothing big like an engine or clutch failed...

Well we made it back – though not without some initial drama ... Packed up, ready to go, we drive half a mile down the road and fill up with petrol. I turn round my missus, "you ready?" "yeah let's go," a big thumbs-up and then the bus won't start. :? I try the key a few times and it...

Doing our best Breaking Bad impression at Bolnuevo Rocks. Still bloody hot here, was reading 39 degrees at 8.30 pm the other night! :o Bus hasn't used any extra oil or become hot at all though.

Keeping the inside of the bus cool in hot weather

Well thanks to George, I'm having a crack at getting an air-con up and running, might be a waste of time but worth a go. Hopefully will be able to get help from a specialist (but no idea who yet). Will report back when I'm home and have picked it up.

    1971 Deluxe Import - A blank canvas

Proper smart looking bus this mate, looking forward to seeing it in the flesh. Fwiw after a lot of research I used the Collinite on mine before leaving on the Spain trip.

Thanks George, yeah you should definitely do it! I'd totally recommend it and it has been ace - just maybe don't show the Mrs the part of this thread where we broke down not long after leaving :) I don't, sorry, I'm sure I have some of my old air-cooled T25 at home but we passed through most...

Awesome, would massively recommend the trip as long as you don't do it in the height of summer like we just did lol :) Let us know if you do, I'll be living here from late September so we can meet up for a cruise or something :msn4:

Keeping the inside of the bus cool in hot weather

haha would this keep the back somewhat cooler then too? I've never really got how they work but now I'm intrigued :D What kind have you got, the old-fashioned tube things (I think they're thermador) that fit onto the window?

Keeping the inside of the bus cool in hot weather

Yeah I'd definitely give a swamp cooler a try and really not worried about moisture in this weather, would only be using it in 30+ temperatures and it's a crazy desert-like heat so reckon it would be fine. Just haven't really seen any decent ones around but am keeping my eye open.

Brilliant! I take my hat off to you sir :D Got the bus back today - finally - and proceeded with cleaning it out after 5 days hard traveling and another 5 sat in the Spanish sun. If you're ever stuck in Murcia region would definitely recommend Decklid Autos in Mazarron. Got the starter...

Good points, all about getting used to living in the heat I suppose. It's an isolated tiny little hamlet in Murcia region. Very out of the way on an old finca we're renting - so diving in at the deep end! Never been to Portugal but fancy a drive there one time for some camping, looks...
