It will fit, but you'd have to use either 71 spindles, or use drum brakes. I assume though, if you have a 71, then you'll have the spindles.

I have for sale this 1971 elm green(how often do you see one) Westfalia pop top. £3750 as it stands with no offers. It is a project, hence the price. It will need welding in all the usual places. You'll need to source some bits and pieces for it(slider, door, engine, bumpers to name a few). But...

you'll be fine, just prize it off. It'll spring down a bit, but not enough to remove a limb.
