should I be using sandpaper on galvanised then :?: there's a fair bit of rust and other rough stuff on it and the sanding seems to be working on the whole....

I'm cleaning up the metal struts for the dormi poptop and was wondering whether anyone has any tips? I'm using 180 & 360 sandpaper and autosol but it's a long process! I'm totally ignorant on the metal - don't think it's stainless steel considering the stains on it!! I can sand off the surface...

got mine when I was 18 in '93 as my first car which was also used as daily driver: happy to say still got her - just turned 36 (me that is, the van is 41!) and I'm still restoring it!! Bumpers are on and am working on inside. Hate leaving it on the road...people in cars just can't park...

Just a note in case you didn't know.. I was looking to get aerosols for touch up and so on and was advised not to get them as I've got 2 pac paint (about 1 year old or younger) and it will react.
