    portable solar panel

Can you get anything with suckers that holds inside the glass? Was thinking of making use of those big glass Dormobile skylights! Getting the wiring there and back will be another issue entirely however!!

    Wanted - early 1967-1970 rear brake drum/s

PS I'm also hoping that the stub-axle isn't buggered too - C&C seem to be the only place with a used very-early stub axle - £200!! I've heard that the case-hardened stub-axles usually outlast the cast drums so I hope the male splines are OK.

    Wanted - early 1967-1970 rear brake drum/s

Ah, I'm only going from memory as to it being what I need - the van is presently across the Irish sea (or preferably, in it!) so I am going from memory. I 'think' the £147 ones are the ones I need but I'm not confident enough to order until I get the van back to check. The JK ones seem to be...

    Wanted - early 1967-1970 rear brake drum/s

Hmm, I guess that's right (The one on the left!) Unforunately not easy to check at the moment as my van is presently in a different country and I can't remember! My chassis no is 238 101 207 (as you say very early) but as far as I know its just the 101207 part that is the sequential bit isn't...

wanted - Dormobile RHD interior for 1971 VW Camper

HI Daisy - I may have some of the parts you need too - will check what is available. I think the side cushion that goes over the cooler box was an aftermarket thing so that might be a cse of getting some foam cut and upholstered yourself...

Hi all, further to a recent post I am after at least one rear brake drum as the splines in mine have worn resulting in the axle spinning inside the drum. Anything considered! Thanks, Rich

Holiday aborted - OS Axle spinning within hub.

Cheers fella - I also need a '68 so I gguess will hav e to keep looking JK etc seem to do a pair for about £260. I had been wondering about getting the nut off a spinning axle and was wondering about taking the CV joint off the back and bolting a long bar through two of the bolt holes - so I...

Holiday aborted - OS Axle spinning within hub.

Aha, thanks Radish. I was homing in on brake drums - I'm pretty sure mine are still the originals. That nut was loose on that side when I first got the van though so I graunched it up. I later stripped and reassembled for new brake shoes but really can't remember if the spacer was fitted or...

Holiday aborted - OS Axle spinning within hub.

Hi folks, Well after a 2 day battle with the AA I am getting the van rescued from the south of Ireland to the UK. :( Bit of a show-stopper - having succesfully navigated all sorts of mountain roads etc with total ease we have come to a shuddering halt with no drive in any gear. (Thankfully...

    dormobile shelf sizes

This is the early type kitchen layout hence probably an early bus - maybe you can scale it from the window sizes? http://home.btconnect.com/oakley-web/tn_dormobile5.jpg Looks like it stops level with the end of the sink unit.

    dormobile shelf sizes

Hi Wally - my 1968 doesn't have one at all - never did. By 1970 there was one size and it did change over the course of production - I think it was long to begin, with then got shorter? They do seem a useful accessory and I am thinking of making something inkeeping to retro-fit to mine despite...

Any Aircooled VW specialists in Ireland?

Hi folks - as the title suggests really! We are shortly to embark on a trip away round Ireland and wondered if anyone knew of any VW specialists over there to put the numbers into my mobile before we set off - as a just-in-case! we have been over many a time but never in the VW before now...

    Wanted early bay bumpers

I was in this situation about two years ago and found a second hand pair. Since then however it appears VW Heritage have started reproducing them - search bumpers in their website. Alternatively there is an outfit which is reproducing them in fibreglass but the name escapes me at the moment...

True, though surely under normal circumstances the net flow is air into the engine bay (and out of the exhaust?)

    Engine bay fire

Hi all, following type2tattoo's post elsewhere with the sad news of his engine fire and subsequent battle with insurance I am looking at this topic with renewed interest. Whilst I realise it is only a one-off expense I was somewhat staggered at how expensive the air cooled engine works...

Arguing a Cat B write off?

Really sorry to hear of this one, I really do hope you get sorted. I can't offer any more than has been said but I think I'd be tempted to take zcat7's advice if possible, though as you have had the tow I hope it is not already too late...
