Polished chrome moon-dome VW hub-cap - act as a convex mirror! Or replace them with some retro 1970's looking 'period-accurate' speakers...

    Indicator switch wanted

Ah - I see - good shout, and cheers for putting the picture up! Also I believe there should be a third spring between the two hooks (uppermost on your first pic) which pull them together... It's a bigger diameter and obviously longer than the pair of return springs... Have left the switch at...

    Someone help me please!

Ah - are the long reach plugs fouling the tinware and shorting out? Or have they forced the leads against the tinware somehow and frayed or cut them?

The Oldest Bay On The Forum

Mine is a UK-spec RHD Dormobile, February 1968, so I'm pretty sure there are older ones about, as that's six months into production - but is it pretty early. It is also a pukka F-plate. It was originally velvet green too, as you describe (and will be again once funds permit!!) - click on the...

    School me on dormobiles...

Thing is, there are loads of different types of roof rack, so it'd probably be a case of getting something made, rather than anyone having one on the shelf... Have you got any pics of it that might help identify it?

    Indicator switch wanted

I'd be interested in your progress (and any pics! :) ) with this, as mine is a bit feeble too. They seem to work better if firmly screwed into the housing. I have also replaced the 'return' springs with new ones too which has helped - which but are you suggesting might need filing down?

I know this is an old thread - but - am I missing something here - is the table supposed the slide into the seat base then? I genuinely had no idea!

    lost the mojo

Must admit I've always wondered why the VW 'scene' seems to separate itself from the rest of the classic car world... I love local shows as I'm into old cars - not just old vw's... ...but more than that, we bought it to use for our purposes, family days out etc - not for the purposes of what...

    Dormobile cooker

It really is fine - you only get carbon monoxide if there is incomplete combustion in the first place - i.e restricted air supply. The only product of the gas flame is C02 (carbon DIoxide) and H2O plus heat. The cooker doesn't 'give off' carbon monoxide as a matter of course - only if it was...

    School me on dormobiles...

Was just about to point you to the Dormobile website! Yep, the foot pump is standard. Most things crop up on here or on ebay from time to time, and the wardrobe part seems relatively easy to get hold of. That does have a buddy seat fitment to go in front of it - it is a short length of the...
