I renovated a 1971 crossover Westy and the electrics on mine were also a crossover between the wiring looms (let alone "the repairs" that had beem done). But nothing that couldn't be sorted.

I made up a harness and used shrink wrap to protect it. Seemed to work fine and in good nick after 6 years

I got mine from the VW museum at Wolfsburg. They send you an official VW certificate with the bus 'birth date' and where it was shipped to.

I cut a whole to access when I was renovating my bus. I had access to a donor bus so cut out a larger section then used Rivnuts to secure. Access now is easy if I ever need to go in again.

Thanks for the info!! Looks like I was seen off at the shop where I bought it :( told me it fitted Early Bays 68 to 72. As mine is a US crossover with a type 4 engine different engine lid etc etc.
