    Body prep and sanders

I've just bought a dewalt electric 125mm DA sander. The holes in the pads allow for dust extraction and the pads are the hook and loop type (velcro) and can be changed in seconds, these round pads are also very cheap to buy in all grades. Im well chuffed with it

    Sand blasting

I wouldnt mind spending out if they were any good  I'm hoping to get the bus painted this winter and there is a lot of crap under the gutters and where the door seals fit etc. I guess i'll have to take a risk and buy one

    Sand blasting

Has anyone used a sand blasting kit on their bus??. I have some rusy areas which are not fully accessible and was wondering if it was worth buying one of these kits for around £50 to clean them prior to painting , Anyone had any experiences????

Some tips needed on fitting sliding door track.

There are 2 additional sills behind the door track, a middle sill and an inner sill, as witnessed on my 68 2 yrs ago

    brakes?

It is not unusual for them to get warm, but if you cannot touch the steel wheels there is definatly something wrong, is one hotter than the other?, could give an indication if one is  . It might be possible that the wheel bearings are too tight and causing a problem too?. Might be worth...

    Front chassis Leg rusted

I have seen these sections for sale, cut from donor vehicles saw a couple at vanfest, so if you cant buy new it might be worth ringing round some bus breakers perhaps.

    Vacuum source for twin carbs....???

I came off one of the vacum attachments on one of the inlet manifolds. The bus runs fine this way with no hesitation at junctions. Some people advise fitting a 90 degree angle elbow in the advance pipe to benefit smoother idling, but i have been happy just using a length of pipe, idles well...

    No Charge

Alternators with an internal regulator usually only have 2 wires coming from them, one for the main charging output and one for the ignition light, possibly a case earth too. The ones with external regulators have at least four wires coming from them, a main charging output (big wire) and 3...

ignition light on when it shouldnt be?

Does the alternator charge ok even though the gen light is dimly on?. I had a 74 bay with a similar problem, this one had an alternator with an external regulator and it did as you describe for 2 years but i drove it all over the place with no problem. If it aint broke, dont fix it perhaps...

    A few holiday pics

The campsite is called Trevellas Manor farm and is a couple of miles outside Perranporth, between Perranporth and St Agnes. It can be a bit tricky to find but if you ever intend to head there drop me a PM and i'll try and give you directions. The price is £4 a head per night without hookup or...

    Remote engine starter switch

One on the large terminal with the incoming battery power cable on it and one on the small spade type connector which is responsible for pulling the solenoid in  . it would be safer to attach one to the battery positive terminal to get your feed and one to the solenoid spade connector. I...

    A few holiday pics

Thats because you've got plenty of happy memories, i couldnt remember much after those ciders, i really like that part of the world though, i like St Ives more but you are talking £30 a night for two people camping so it doesnt leave much beer money. The bus averaged around 27 mpg on 1641 on...

Yeah thats by the green parrot pub, they usually insist you have to spend over £5 on drinks to park in there. When the attendant told me this i think they were expecting me to moan, but having another pint of crisp cornish cider in a sunny beer garden was fine by me  . It's just as well...

After a 300 Mile Journey from Shropshire to Cornwall a few beers were required. Camper left in car park to cool down, but looks cool any way to me  After chilling a bit it was off to a cracking campsite, lots of lovely greenery, lovely view all at £10 a night :D Time to set up...
