Change your shocks to kyb or similar, maybe ok

you don't need to cut them off, you can just clearance that area with a flap disc. Always do the minimum as if you want to return to stock you can. what shocks? stiffer ones will probably stop the bang.

If you use adaptors on the rear then go for 20mm, with wheels with Et45 or et52.3 fronts depends what brakes you have really either adaptors or 944 discs.

No, they did make one for a bay but don't think they do anymore. My mate has the first they made for a bay and it's not great, i couldn't see any benefit when i drove it.

I'm using one from a 2006 petrol beetle. Terminals are on the correct way and more cranking power. It's 2nd hand too as it didn't have enough oomph to start the new beetle.

I've checked and the portable ones come with a regulator and controller. They are on the back of the panel.
