Maastricht is quite good. On a lake a not far from the city either. Can;t vouch for the child friendliness of the place through :) Did this last time we went to Hessisch and EBI.

There is a convoy from BBT near Antwerp to Hessisch. Been on the last two and it's great fun. It's a long drive to Hessisch though!
