I'm aware sloppy gear selection is a known issue but presumably did'nt exist when leaving the factory originally so something is worn over 40 years. From experience what is the most likely part? - I've replaced the clutch cable and adjusted, fitted a new shift plate and front bush , everything...

The fixings look like simple self-tappers, but before I undo them :? ,please tell me there are no nuts or special clips that will fall off -such that I have to remove all the furniture to get to them in the void .......advice please!!!. Tar -JIM.
