hi, I have the same problem but with the front wheels. Mine is lowered with wagenswest lowered spindles, running on stock 185/80 R14 tires and stock shocks. Maybe I will change the front tires to 185/60 R14.

my bus is lowered with these spindles....and 1 spline at the rear....

what year is your early bay? My bus is from august 1970, and it already has 3 extra (unused) brackets. When I mount the laterbay/golf I lights in these brackets the headlight is fitting to much outside (to the front)

Standard I had a 3screw rim, now I've bought a genuine 1 screw rim. But thisone doesn't fit exactly... :-(

I've already tried some headlamps from a MK1 Golf, when mounting them the chrome rim doesn't fit anymore.... :-(

I would like to upgrade the headlights with some H4-halogens. Did someone installed H4-healights in his earlybay? If yes, how did you do it? Or is there a conversionkit to switch from bulbs to H4's but still fits in the original headlight?

an update... new exhaust / sprayed black wheels repainted.... installed some vdo-meters

yesterday we've stripped the exhaust....so now it's ready for some new paint and we hope it will last longer ..... also fixed the heat exchanger problem with a new piece of pipe and some RTV SILICONE sealant.... we need to redo some wiring....

Today we removed the old rusted exhaust and we will install a newone. But we saw something we didn't expected..... The right pipe of the heat exchanger is damaged(holes) by rust... Now we need to renew them also....expensive part.... :-(
