    Gear shifting problem sorted.

I know there are generally similar posts around but just wanted to share my experience incase anyone else has similar problems. Lord knows, such tips helped me sort this problem. For the years that I've had my bus I've accepted the 'porridge stirring' situation as a given for a bus that age. A...

    How easy is the engine?

If you've got the space, try buying a battered engine from ebay - there's often a few up for sale for spares or repairs. That's what I did. Cost me about a hundred of them British pounds but meant I could strip it down with impunity, see how everything fits together and works and then build it...

    Stolen van blues...

I got Cumbria covered dude. Kinda had my fill of social parasites this week and this tops it off. I assume you'll let us know when (not if) it's found?

    Trip to France advice..

If you do head up towards arcachon stay on the coast and you'll pass the largest sand-dune in Europe - dune de pilar. It's quite impressive and kids love it. as stated the surf on that coast is phat (I think that's surfie talk but not sure). If sea salt is not your thing head inland slightly to...

    Any scooter boys out there?

The only reason I turned air-cooled in the first place was because I spent so much time taking apart and (approximately) putting back together my Vespas. Eventually she who must be obeyed convinved me that if I'm going to spend so much time arsing around in the garage it should at least be for...

    Cab seat springs

Did both my front seats in the past. There were a number of broken springs so I removed them being careful to preserve the metal clips holding them to the frame. Then bought replacement springs for a couch from my local upholsterer for a coupla quid each. These were straight so needed to be bent...

    Jk thermo mats

The (very limited) instructions that come with the mats advise to heat the suction cups in hot water if they are out of shape and distorted so I guess the key is to drop them in your left over bed-time nettle soup before putting the mats up for the night.

    Laws of Restoration

So who's law is it that says if you have n screws or bolts to remove you will only be able to remove (n-1)? There's always one stubborn b@st@rd that won't budge. Every time. If it's no-ones law yet, can I claim it and how do I go about registering it as mine?!?!?

    Does anything actualy fit properly!!!!!!!!

Dont think anything I've bought from a well known online camper store has actually fitted without some modification despite their assurances that it's the right year. Last thing was the speedometer hub, which needed the centre hole boring wider, before that the engine lid rubbers. I now embrace...

Lets put some faces with the Bays!

Me, the dog and the ride: The dog suitably impressed with newly installed child bunk: The ride creaking it's elderly joints through Honister Pass in the Lakes. Note this is a LHD vehicle so you figure out what the dog is doing.

New to EarlyBay ? Say Hi here ...

Wonder if I might be allowed to join the party? Not long taken ownership of a '69 microbus LHD swedish import (complete with swedish user manual, helpfully) which I'm in the process of converting from bus into bespoke camper. T-1 days before she hits the road with me for the first time so all...
