    Bunty - '71 Tin-Top Sunshine Bus Resto

Very regretfully put Bunty up on eBay today. Listing number 232276029030. Hope she goes to a good home. I've set a realistic reserve, and if she doesn't go I'll find a way to keep her and finish the project.

    Bunty - '71 Tin-Top Sunshine Bus Resto

Hi all. It's been a while. Very little (almost zero) progress made over the last 3 years. Just don't get time these days, and planning to move home in the next few months - so the bus is reluctantly going up for sale. What's done is what you see, other than the o/s wheel arch has been cut out...

    Whats draining my battery?

Have you got, or can you borrow a multimeter? Disconnect the earth lead from the battery, connect the multimeter set on 'Amps' between earth lead and battery earth post. You'll see a reading if there's any drain. Then pull each fuse in turn and see which one stops the drain. That should help...

Hi Jay, When you say crossmember, which part do you mean? The piece behind the front bumper? I think as long as you have both front jacking points in and they're solid, you should be ok to roll the bus. If in doubt though, you could weld a few lengths of angle iron in to brace the body... say...

Thanks for the feedback guys. It helps keep my enthusiasm going. Squirt - just had a look at your thread and I see your bus is called Fannie. Seeing as ours has the first 3 letters of the reg 'UNT', we were tempted to call it something along those lines but thought 'Bunty' was the cleaner...

And today I've set about tackling the rotten fuel tank compartment floor. Not an easy piece to fabricate due to the various curves, but I cut out the rotten part and used that as a guide to cut out and shape a new piece. Checked for fit, which to my surprise wasnt too bad Started welding it...

As the new wheel tub is a different profile at the rear compared to the one that's come out, I have to fabricate a new plate to go in where it closes off the engine bay and part-way into the fuel tank compartment. Started by cutting out the shape using the old rotten piece as a guide. Then...

Now on to this shoddy wheel tub. It's full of patches, rust, filler, silicone sealant then all caked in stonechip and yellow paint. No point trying to save it so a new tub awaits. From the inside. I'd already started splitting it to take it out bit by bit. Finding the bulkhead seams -...

An update on progress... Slow going as usual, but starting to get somewhere. I've now sold the TR6 so have a bit more time and space to work on the bus. More rot found in the n/s chassis rail which needed repairing before I could get the jacking point in. Welds ground down and a squirt of...

Thanks Ronnie. I appreciate the sentiment anyway! Had a look at your tips on painting.. bookmarked for a later date. A small update on Operation Spit-Roast... :msn4: Got the rear end stripped of suspension components. Those 4 swing arm to hub carrier bolts were a pain on the off-side, but...

Well. Here I am again with another thread revival. Last year's rivival stalled around October with far too many things going on - including getting married on Christmas Eve. Middi (Dave) from Earlybay.com kindly provided transport for the bride and her brother. Here's a quick pic of Nikki and...

Wedding Hire - Xmas Eve morning, Huntingdon - Thanks Middi

Just wanted to say thanks to Dave (Middi) on here for getting Nikki to the wedding on time on Christmas Eve morning. Being driven to our wedding in a smart blue Early Bay really made Nikki's day extra special, so thanks for braving the torrential rain Dave.

Wedding Hire - Xmas Eve morning, Huntingdon - Thanks Middi

Hi all, Bit of a stab in the dark here, but against her better judgement, Nikki has accepted my proposal and agreed to become my better half. :D We were planning to get wed in a couple of years time (been together 10 years, so didn't want to rush into anything!), but we decided a few weeks...

The best car you have driven.

Difficult choice really. Nothing particularly fancy, but probably in top spot would have to be my TR6 - mainly because I rebuilt it from the ground up myself. Puts a smile on my face every time I drive it: Then the other half's Mk1 MX5. Not the quickest car, but handles superbly, never any...

    Another Dormobile restoration :)

Looks like a great job. A solid bus again under that paint. How's the re-fitting coming along?

Cheers Kevin. I'm quite pleased with the overall result considering I was learning as I went along. All good practice for tackling the bus! Just had a look through your rebuild thread. Seems we've had similar issues with previous 'restorers' and their industrial sized buckets of body filler!

    Bunty - '71 Tin-Top Sunshine Bus Resto

All, Sorry this thread has been a little dead for a while now. Been lots going on which means I've had very little time on the bus. Did manage to get the TR6 in Practical Classics mag this month which had a couple of sneaky glimpses of the bus (http://on.fb.me/QwYHVD"...

    Bunty - '71 Tin-Top Sunshine Bus Resto

Finally got cracking on the bus again this weekend after getting the TR6 finished. That's been on the road for the past month, but I had a couple of weekends tied up with getting the hood fitted and actually taking it out for a spin between downpours. So, my weekends will now be spent laying on...

    Bunty - '71 Tin-Top Sunshine Bus Resto

Hi all Apologies for my absence (did anyone notice??!!). Can't believe it's nearly a year since I last posted in here. Bunty has unfortunately been mothballed since then to allow me to concentrate my time on finishing my TR6 restoration. After just over 6 years of every-other-Sunday, or less...
