    Sump full of fuel (again)

Went to start the bus yesterday, wouldn't turn over and got a strong whiff of petrol. Checked the battery 12.6v. Noticed petrol dripping from underneath. Guess what yep, another sump full of petrol and a hydraulic lock. Ordered a fuel cut off solenoid to stop this nonsense.

Fuel Hose and the dreaded E10

Checking my bus over today for a possible trip out this week. The hose from my Huco electric fuel pump to a tee piece is 7.6mm R9 hose and from the tee piece to my twin ICT's is 5.5mm 100% Bio Fuel Hose from advanced fluid solutions. Both were fitted about 2 years ago. I regularly check them...

    Split Charge draining battery

My bus has a 53AH starter battery and a 105AH leisure battery, and a split charge system. For some time the bus starter battery goes flat if left for a week without starting. I initially thought it was a battery problem so replaced with a new one. However, problem remained. Recently I had my...

    Rear Torsion Bar End Caps

Whilst checking the underside of my van the other day I noticed that both rear torsion bar end caps had rusted through. Took one off and tried to get the inner cup out to no avail. Searching the interweb found some on Autocraft Engineering for just over a tenner each. Thought they looked a...

Whilst checking my bus over today noticed that both rear torsion bar end caps have rusted through. The available replacements look a bit flimsy, anyone recommend replacements?

    Steering problem

Did a pub stop over near Great Yarmouth last week. On the way back the wind was quite high and the bus was all over the road. Had the tracking done today and found out it was 2 x the limit toe in. Drove the bus around today and already seems better, have to wait for another windy day to see...

    Sliding door hinge

Having fixed my bus starting problem I thought I would delve into the issue the sliding door has, it has been getting more and more difficult to shut easily. so took the cover of the slide and found the metal wheel which runs on the slide has split into two parts. Waiting for a new one from JK...

    Hot Start Relay

Been having an issue ever since I fitted a new starter battery end of last year. If I leave the van alone for over a week, I have difficulty starting (I know I should start it more frequently). Alternator is kicking out over 14v and the battery drops to 12.1v, If I don't depress the clutch...

    Spare wheel

Currently I don't carry a spare wheel in my 71 Dormmy, just a can of tyre inflation stuff. I am thinking of doing a extended trip round Europe later this year and kind of think I need a proper spare wheel. Currently have SSP GT 5 spoke alloys fitted, 5.5x15", 5x112 PCD , ET20. Don't want to buy...

    Fuel in the oil sump

Today I noticed a smell of petrol around my 71 bay. Checked al the usual stuff, fuel pipes connections etc. all dry. I pulled the dipstick and it was covered in petrol. Drained the sump and after the oil a lot of petrol came out. I have never had this happen before. My engine has an electric...

    Door mirrors

What's the correct (best) way to position door mirrors? Long side up or long side out. Just wondering as I have seen both ways being used, even both on the same bus. I suppose I could test on mine, but looking for opinions...

    Overheating

Had a nice couple of days away in the van at Glampfest N Yorks. On the way home the engine started getting up to 120 C so had to take it slow until we got home. Checked today and found the alternator pulley nut had worked loose so the fan belt wasn't turning the alt or the main fan. Lucky it...
