Late bay brake callipers and R14 wheels

Hi Guys. I am wanting to return to steel stock 14 inch wheels from 15 inch et20 after market alloys, but I have fitted late bay callipers/discs to my 1971 early bay. My question is will the steel 14 inch wheels fit over the late bay callipers. Many thanks. Scull.

Anyone gone for the rat look?

Thanks for posting. Van looks great and love the story regarding the fat tyre on the roof. Ive just brought some rusty paint myself. Gonna try it on my bumpers first but Im not very arty. Looking forward to seeing some more pics of ratted vans from over members.

Anyone gone for the rat look?

Love the stance of your bus from the front as its about the same as my set up. Not weed-scraping but drivable and low enough to look cool. The ratty badge and bumper with the over-riders look great too. Looks like a wedding car for the day. Hope all went well. Cheers for posting the pic. Scull.

Anyone gone for the rat look?

Thanks for your comments guys so far. Sadly mine is not the original paint, and from previous minor panel repairs it looks like mine has about 7 different top coat colours!! No guidance comments from actual ratters or photos ratted vans yet but I live in hope. By the way Ozziedog, love the...

Anyone gone for the rat look?

Hi Guys. My French-slammer lowered 1971 T2a is in need of a respray but I cant afford a proper job. Im thinking of going for a DIY rat look like many others but haven't got a clue how to start. Has anyone done it on here? I've been looking at ratted vans after doing a Google search 'ratted VW...

    Busfest.

Agree 100% with all that Busfest is not what it used to be. I have stickers along the bottom my 1971 T2a windscreen going back to 2001 when is was called Vanfest. Great crack and loads of aircooled vans, AC traders, descent food stalls and bands back then. Went last year and I reckon only 10%...

    Smallest aspect ratio 4 x 4 tyres on R15s

Thanks for this. The aspect ratio is quite low too at 65 and with a load rating of 90 these may be just what I need for my lowered van to help with stability. Cheers.

Replacing wiring loom in 1971 EB

Hi, Can anyone on here recommend a garage that is capable of replacing the whole wiring loom in a 1971 early bay? JK do one for around £600 but need to know cost of fitting. This is not the sort of job I fancy doing myself o_O. Any guidance would be gratefully appreciated. Looking forward to...

    Microsteer PAS for our buses

Hi Guys. Has anybody fitted the Microsteer PAS kit to there buses? If so, was it easy to fit and what is your verdict? Looking to fit PAS to help with parking my T2a 1971 bay into my garage which is tight. The link to the Microsteer kit is here https://dcemotorsport.com/microsteer/ . Its less...

    Battery Isolator

Yep. Got these on my 1971 T2a. Great bits of kit for isolation and battery drain saving. One on both main and leisure battery negative terminal only. I have moved my M + LB batteries to under the R&R bed with a 3000W inverter under there also. Makes life easier than crouching under the engine...

    Steering problem

Hi. Yes. I am also looking for a 4 x 4 tyre for my R15 Empi's on the front and rear to improve the handling. Problem is my 1971 T2a is lowered so clearance may be an issue. Interested in what 4 x 4 tyre make/profile/size you have for your R15s? Are you able to share this on here?? May thanks. Scull

    4 inch narrowed beam questions

Hi Guys. I have managed to purchase an unused 4 inch adjustable narrowed beam with fitted leaves and centre-pin for my 1971 early bay. I want a lowered look but not weed scraping. Questions: Can I fit my original torsion bars and hubs (disc brakes) or will I need to fit dropped spindles to avoid...

    Red 9 Design front beam

Many thanks for your all comments regarding the Red 9 Design front beam. Seems most of you are not fans. I may need to re-think my options towards a narrowed beam, dropped spindles and referbed steering box. Any recommendations of suppliers and fitters of a beam systems like those described...
