I've bought an empi trigger shifter but I'm having difficulties getting it to go in 3&4 tried adjusting it all over the place but still struggling can any one help?

It's all original I think apart from the colour was painted 10 years ago so is getting a bit tatty don't really no much about it. It's going to get gutted and a new interior ( I do it for a living) and some fresh paint but want to keep as original as possible externally with a modern interior...
