    Wiring loom advice

Teacher, now it makes sense. You must have a lot of time on your hands. You have successfully killed any interest i had in the thread i started. Feel free to ramble on, i won't be watching or contributing any further.

Really, you don't say. And here's me having ripped cable from a substation to wire me bus. Feels like you are trying to bait me, but i will assume not as this is a friendly forum. Read the rest of the thread, i didn't wake up yesterday and decide to "have a go at wiring". Cable size is always...

It's obvious you skimmed it as youv'e missed the point entirely. Domestic 230V A.C wiring and protection has nothing at all to do with 12V D.C wiring and protection. The same current in A.C would require a much thinner cable and fusing is not the same. 80amp in a car is nothing. Take a look at...

    Wiring loom advice

Been ill for a couple of weeks and not been on here. I have a plan for power distribution from the battery but not sourced a cab fusebox solution yet. So for batt+ distribution: The original 6mm cable from the starter to the fusebox is barely cutting it even when new. The volt drop over the...

Thanks Ron, i'm no spring chicken either, but it sounds like you have a few years on me and professional knowledge. Any advice gladly taken. I work on motor yachts and wiring/looming out is part of my daily, fitting motors, control boxes and hydraulic pumps and repairing damaged product for...

Got more quality crimpers than i need due to my work and previous work on vehicle electrics. The only ones i never had was flag crimpers, just ordered some for next week.

Assuming all genuine wire colours used. That's a really good price, i haven't priced in the charging/starter cables, as i've already replaced them, or the copex, sleevinv or heatshrink. Even making the loom yourself you couldn't purchase that lot for under £400. Well done.

That's a good deal TBF. I am adding a start and maybe ign. live relay as suggested. Split charge will come later.

How much? Was it all the wiring for the bus? and was it just the harness/looms or including relays or mods?

I'm fitting all new cables but the measured length of some might help to be sure i'm not cutting it too short when ordering. Whereabouts are you? or if you are just keen to help, and have a tape measure, i really only need to check a few lengths.

Was it a good fit and did you have to modify it much?

    Re-Wiring Advice

Hey Bob, i know its been a while since you posted, but did you find out what the wire was for? Making my own loom bespoke, just getting bits together now.

Too expensive. My spare time is free, i don't sleep much, and i need to be doing something. Plus, if i save enough on the things i can do well, i may be able to get someone with a workshop to do some of the welding. I've priced the cables, oversized and including additions, and it's under £160...

Thanks, i'll give them a try. I did find somewhere in England that makes cable in all sizes and can tracer stripe it lengthways, or spiral like original and in just about any colour. The only catch is it's expensive and only sold by the 100M to order.

Nice 1. I already replaced the charging/starter and battery cables and recrimped and untangled the rest a bit. Changed up for an alternator so beefed up the cables a bit too. All the lights are newish and quality units. Headlamps have osram nightbreaker bulbs i think. Loads of light on the...

    Wiring loom advice

Hi guys, making my own wiring harness/ loom to replace the knackered old stuff with. Also want to include reverse and fog lamp wiring and maybe add optional spot light/driving lamp wiring for future addition. Have any of you guys done the same? Does anyone have measurements for cable lengths...

    Maypole cover

Hi Guys, Merry Xmas and happy new year to all. Just wanted to share a great buy with you all. Just treated my bus to a new, long overdue cover. The "Maypole" 4 ply type 2 cover is £68 at Euro car parts + 10% off in sale, so £64. Normally around the £100 mark, anyone considering it, now's the time.
