Looking in "The Samba" They are talking of cruising at 120 K/MH (75 MPH.) I have a 68 with type 4 engine and cruise at around 90 K/MH (55 MPH). Am I babying it too much? Much above that and I am wandering! Yes, I know I could do with a new steering box. Thanks.

I have a type 4 engine in my 68 Bay. Wasn't hard at all if you have the skills. I did have to make my own tin so the engine would cool properly. Everything fit after a bit of fiddling. The back cross member (under the rear hatch) had to be modified a little; in order to fit the oil filler in. I...

I also built a teardrop, Galley Hatch. Covered it with the type of fabric used in big portable structures. Works very well. You could also use "Stits Fabric" I used it on a light Aircraft. Glue and stick.

I use a suitcase-style 100w Panel. Carry it inside and set it up when not traveling. Works for me.

Sometimes if you leave the washer on. The circlip will not "set in" as it should. Then, if it comes off. you have a loose circlip floating in your CV.
