Raise lowered van, but no adjustment left

Went out in it last night & it was fine, so much better than before, cheers

Raise lowered van, but no adjustment left

Cheers Graham. I managed to move the lower adjuster down a little and so have set the upper one a couple of teeth higher than the lower one. I have lowered it and it is sitting at the same height it was originally. It is definitely a lot stiffer, but still moves a little (I have been bouncing in...

Raise lowered van, but no adjustment left

…Just to be clear, when I say I’ve set the top adjuster two teeth higher I mean two teeth higher on the adjuster, so it is actually lowering the front further, as mentioned in an earlier post… Cheers

Raise lowered van, but no adjustment left

Hi, so from what I can see both the adjusters look to be welded in the same position on the beam, so I’ve set the top adjuster two teeth higher, as per previously mentioned. Before I put everything back on & road test it, is there any check I can do to make sure the set up is correct & that I’ve...

Raise lowered van, but no adjustment left

Hi, both adjusters are at the lowest setting. I had read that they should be different, but tbh I just put them back as they were when I got the van, as I wasn’t sure what to do. If they are supposed to be different how do you set the adjusters correctly? Cheers

Raise lowered van, but no adjustment left

Thanks for the quick response… It has got dropped spindles, I might have to just put up with it being a bit lower than I want…

Raise lowered van, but no adjustment left

Hi, I want to raise the front of my van by 20mm or so, but when I look at the adjusters on the front beam, they are already adjusted to the highest setting (i.e. at the bottom of their adjustment range - I did check by moving them up & that lowered it further). The adjusters have a lock nut...

Leaking carb & engine wont fire

Hi, Went for a run tonight & engine started running rough (wouldn't rev & tickover was low and lumpy), so pulled in to check and one of the dellorto carbs was leaking fuel. Seemed to stop leaking so tried to start engine, but wouldnt turn engine over, almost like the battery was dead (which it...

    Brake Pedal Low Pressure

Hi gagvanman, the bleed nipples are the bottom of the calliper, but I don’t think I have mixed up the callipers, does that make a difference? I’ve swapped out the old master cylinder and put in a new one and it definitely seems better, but still no pressure on the first push of the pedal. Ive...

    Brake Pedal Low Pressure

Ok, so bled the brakes again today. First tried it with the eezibleed thing, which kept the pressure up ok, but didnt suck any fluid from the bottle! A little air came out, and the pedal pressure did feel better, but not normal. Then bled it manually loads of air came out, but pedal pressure was...

    Brake Pedal Low Pressure

Thanks for the replies. I’ve actually got the van raised at the front. When I’ve bled it I have had bit of both, at first there was a big rush of air & now hardly any air & obviously none when I stopped on each wheel. I’ll try again tomorrow & see if I can get any more pressure. Thanks again

    Brake Pedal Low Pressure

Hi, Fitted new pistons & seals to 944 callipers. Callipers were off for a few weeks, so flexible hose was clamped. Refitted callipers & bled brakes, but now can only get pressure on pedal after 5-6 pumps on pedal. When pressure is there, when holding pedal down, pressure remains & the pedal...

    Brake pedal to the floor

Update - I can see that the pipe from the upper reservoir to the lower reservoir has come off. There is a rubber seal between the pipe & the lower reservoir, that is damaged. Looking on a couple of websites I cant see any seal for that part of the system. There is a seal from the pipe to the...

    Brake pedal to the floor

Thanks for the help. I’ll look at it tonight & hopefully it will be a straight forward fix. 👍

    Brake pedal to the floor

Thanks for the responses. I tested the brake pedal and it didnt go to the floor, so assume was/is air in the system. Anyway, just started to bleed the brakes, using a Gunson kit & the master cylinder has just spilled its guts under the van. The pressure I used was 11PSI. I realise a seal has...

    Brake pedal to the floor

Hi Madman, no it is still spongy & gets harder the more I pump it. If I'm going to bleed the brakes I might as well add new fluid, so do you know what fluid I should use dot 3 or dot 4? cheers.

    Brake pedal to the floor

Thank Stuf, I thought I might have to do this. What is the best fluid for my set up, is it Dot4? Thanks again :-)

    Brake pedal to the floor

Hi, the other day the accelerator cable snapped whilst out on the motorway on my 70 Westy. The van was recovered, but when I got back home I noticed the brake pedal was going flat to the floor. If I pump it once it works ok. It has Porsche discs up front & drums at the back. There is no...
