Brake pipe chassis tube front to rear

Good morning, I’m replacing the front and rear cross members in my 1968 early bay and have bought the replacement parts from Alan Scofields. When I removed the old ones, there was a tube, on the driver’s side (RHD) which had the copper brake pipe running through from the master cylinder to the...

Headlining - one or two parts!?

Thank you everyone for your replies. I don’t believe my camper a van conversion, I’ll attach photos but my van is a bit of a mess right now due to the amount of work I’ve had to do to correct the botched body.

Headlining - one or two parts!?

Oh well, with 60 views and no replies I’ll take it that it’s another botch and I’ll replace the headlining with a single piece. KR Tony

Hi everyone, I’d like some advice on the headlining of my 1968 early bay. I‘m currently restoring mine by replacing all the botched areas around my bus ie new inner/outer sills (both sides), rear wings (somebody had replaced with 71 flared arches), rear corners, battery trays, cross members...

    Heater tube cover

Good morning, I’m in the process of reversing how the previous owners ‘restored’ my 1968 early bay. Having bought what seems a never ending list of replacement panels for Alan Schofields, I cut the centre belly pan off to reveal even more work, both the front and rear cross members need...

    Gearbox / Clutch parts?

Good morning everyone, I’m currently restoring my 1968 early bay, replacing some body and chassis parts, having found the previous owner/‘restorer’ had ‘repaired’ the van to a very low standard (in my opinion). However, having taken out my engine, I found 3 staple shaped bits at the bottom of...

    1968 bay steering rod collar

Hi Thank you for your reply. I’m missing both the parts that attaches to the steering rod, the part left of the “insulating washer ( number 12) and the insulating washer (which is available to buy). As far as I can see from other photos ( looking at the Just Kamper insulating washer diagram)...

    1968 bay steering rod collar

Hi, Thanks for replying. Apologies if I’m not making it clear. The bit I’m missing is part way down the steering rod (number7) I’m assuming that the earthing sleve(shown next to it) fits around it? What is it for and do I need this part? Thanks and regards, Tony

    1968 bay steering rod collar

Having taken my steering apart, I found that the steering rod was missing a collar where the earthing sleeve sits. Speaking to several people, they inform me that the sleeve is a permanent part of the rod! Mine is missing and looking at the shaft I can’t see anything that shows it being...

Is there a 1968 one year only list of the different parts?

Hi guys, I'm new to the vw camper scene having recently bought a right hand drive 1968 early bay. Having taken it for a MOT, rust on the floor under the accelerator pedal was discovered and advised to be welded. Having ordered a quarter panel from Alan Scofields, I discovered the the accelerator...
